How is it not imperialist when a foreign force attempts to overthrow the ruling class of another country to set up a government that agrees to their ideas? Also, how does opposing this imperialism make me a supporter of the International Third Position?
Well, unless he's a government agent, then I fail to see how he can be imperialist... [/b]
Because he's coming from the privlege of living in an imperialist country, living off the toils of the third world...

And he is going to help "liberate" those people??

Fuck off.

It's a like the "socialist" version of the "White Man's Burden"!

You can take your arrogant attitude and shove up your arse sideways.

It seems communists living in the imperialist nations cannot win - if we do not get involved, then we're parasites. If we do try to help, then we're compared to colonialists.

So what do you you do, living in Canada? Stand in elections?

I would feel alot better of myself if I lived in an impovershed nation, I did not choose to live in the usa, I was born here.

Do I have any choice that the country I was born in is imperialist? NO!

Leninism states that every capitalist country is actually two
countries--the countries of the workers and their allies,
and the country of the ruling capitalist class.

Am I this ruling class? No, am I living off the toils of the third world? Involuntarily yes I am. I don't need you to remind me of my crime of being born in america so why don't you fuck off.

In that case, I suggest you work towards revolution in the USA, however far off that may seem to be at the moment. In the country where you live, work, and engage in politics....

IMO that's the only kind of revolutionary there is.

Solidarity with those in other countries, is only revolutionary in the context of working towards revolution in one's own.

NoXion and red militant, go back and re-read what I wrote. I never said do nothing. I was simply questioning the motives of "liberating" sovereign nations in the name of communism, when they have had their own revolution and are under the constant cross-hairs of the very imperialist nation you are coming from!

And no, I don't just stand in elections. I have only ran once actually. Most of the time I do militant anti-fascist work (google "Marcell Rodden"), but I get involved with various campaigns when necessary. Most recently I was doing Raise the Rates campaign with the Ontario Coalition Against Poverty, helping people get more welfare money by getting them on special diet. We ended up costing the state over 2 million dollars, and they had to go to the legislature and change laws to stop it (do a google search for "OCAP" "special diet"). We have also done many squat actions and revolutionary (AKA Robin Hood) food grabs.

I do Cuban Solidarity work as well (actually supporting anti-imperialism instead of fighting against it)... just to name a few things off hand.

We have our own anti-colonial struggles to fight here in north ameriKKKa anyways. If you are concerned with helping people who have to live under a ditatorship, were starved, given diseases, had their culture destroyed, etc. why not look to the Aboriginals? I'm sure there is a lot of solidarity and support you can get involved with.

The DPRK has a higher literacy rate than the US
Whose statistics are you going by? [/b]
The US government's, although the US government also claims the DPRK definition of of who is literate and who is illiterate only applies to those 15 years or older.

If you arent saying to do nothing about it, then what is to be done to help the North Koreans?

This is a vital time to deffend the Cuban Revolution as the us military is preparing to invade Cuba. I believe militant action must be taken to defend Cuba, and I am willing to do what is necassary.

As for helping the Native Americans who have had their land culture and religion stolen from them in the name of westward expansion and christianity; I would join in their cause, but I believe it is impossible.

I believe the imperrialist usa will never fall, it will remain the home of the capitalist imperialists, and the vile christian religous fanatics until it is destroyed completly by some other nation. The liberation of the Native Americans and the Workers of this nation, sadly but truly will never happen, that is why I will move to somewhere away from the continental America's when I have the money. It sounds very pessimistic but it is what I believe to be a reallity.

I don't think this person was implying that we should help the first nations overthrow the goverments of the US, Canada or Mexico, rather help them to gain certain rights, mainly the right to self deterimination.

Well, we should help them fight to get and maintain land, if they would be capable of overthrowing the government that would be great too.

Considering the astonishing success all of us had in overthrowing our respective pro-capitalist governments through a proletarian revolution, yes, I thin we are entitled to teach the North Koreans what they should do, and how.

How do you say? We still haven't overthrown our respective pro-capitalist governments? Dammit, how comes there is always something missing?

Well comrades my point of view is North Korea how ever dictatorial they are still a country that has not been consumed by Americas imperialism, in other words it is still a free country. South Korea is just a whore of America and China is ever more becoming that way. To me the Soviet Union of the 1960s and Cuba over the last 40 years are my most favourable example of our glorious system in Action.

Awesome. Good post Marcel, apparently some people seem to think that as long as you're not the government of an imperialist country, and you claim to be socialist, imperialism is fine. Red Militant, socialist or not, still wishes to impose his ideology on another country.

Wow, someone with such a defeatist attitude is going to run the workers movement in North Korea? You've got to be kidding me.

How about more discussion and less belittling? I see enough passive aggressive insulting on the internet from Americans. It pains me to see it from people I see as "comrades".

Red, you're enthusiastic, that's good. I do agree that what is happening in North Korea is not altogether that good. Unfortunately, though, for every blind pro-American, there is a blind anti-American; people who think that simply because it is not Capitalist, not an American ally, it is good. It's the same kind of thinking that allowed America to install so many brutal dictators over the years. It didn't matter that they were murderous, power-hungry, and oppressive. All that matters to them was that they weren't Communist.

We can't fall into the opposite of that, that anything is better than Capitalism. A government, a person, can be against Capitalism, and still be a bad person.

In any case, I do not know what is going on in Korea. They shut their doors tightly. The odd article in the newspaper, or on CNN, or a little 20-minute epilogue on 60 Minutes, is really most have to go by. I do not trust that, but it is informative. I will not say that I believe America's view of North Korea, but I will not really believe North Korea's views of itself, either. Infact, I will not fully believe anyone's views about anything. Paranoid, eh?

That Is a very self defeating attitude, ah I see Matthijs has already pointed that out, but anyways you do not make much sense. You think by starting a fund raiser you can over throw Kim but when it comes to a direct reveloution in your own country it is "Impossible!". The U.S going down first makes sense they are the biggest capitalist bully in the world right now. If you bring them down than U.S sweat shops would collapse In China and the war In the middle east would go caput.

And back to this grand funraiser you purpose we give it to people against Kim, well who's against Kim? Think for a second now If you were really Communist would you want to give money to them? <_<

For being a "realist" your mind and heart sure does lye In Fantasy alot.
But now we must pick up every piece

Just to keep ourselves
