Greetings comrades!
As some of you may know, on December 6th the Supreme Court will hear the case of FAIR vs. Rumsfeld which is to decide the legalities of the Solomon Amendment which mandates that schools must allow military recruiters on their campus in order to receive federal funding. The Campus Anti-War Network has therefore declared December 6th a day of protest against military recruiters, against the increased militarization of society, against the war in Iraq and against the Solomon Amendment. Protests will happen across the country, for more information check this page: http://www.campusantiwar.net/index.php?opt...d=124&Itemid=37 . As events in specific cities are called, they will be added to the page so be sure to check it often so as to find out how you can participate locally. I know that in New York City CAN will be protesting the large military recruiting station outside of Borough of Manhattan Community College, a working-class school downtown. Previous anti-recruiter events at the school have been very fruitful, the school has some pretty radical students and there have been some very large demonstrations that have led to recruiters having to leave campus. Its a small thing, but helping to stop these recruiters, or at least getting our voices heard is one small step we can all take to fight the militarization of society and this war that is raging in Iraq at the moment. So if you would like to take part in this, please come to the Borough of Manhattan Community College (199 Chambers St. A,C,E,1,2,3 trains to Chambers Station, walk 3 blocks west) on December 6th at noon. Thanks!
