George Bush had planned to bomb Al Jazeera offices

LONDON - US president George Bush hatched a plan to bomb the Qatar offices of Arab television network Al Jazeera, according to reports.
The Daily Mirror reports that Bush was dissuaded from the plan by British Prime Minister Tony Blair, who said that an attack on an ally would provoke a major backlash.
Quoting a Number 10 memo, which the Mirror said was marked "Top Secret", the newspaper said that Bush threatened to unleash "military action" against the network.
Sources told the newspaper that Bush made it clear that he wanted to bomb Al Jazeera in Qatar and other locations, and denied reports that the threat was made in a humorous way. The paper said that the plan was revealed by Bush to Blair at a White House summit on April 16 2004.
Al Jazeera came to prominence in the Western world following the September 11 2001 terrorist attacks in the US. The network was favoured by Arab terrorist organisations such as Al Qaeda for releasing footage of Western hostages and messages from leaders including Osama bin Laden.
As the invasion of Iraq began and US and British troops went into battle, the network angered the US and UK governments by broadcasting images of dead and captured coalition troops. Al Jazeera was then banned from operating its Iraq office by the interim Iraqi administration.
The head of Al Jazeera later had to step down after criticisms of its Gulf War coverage and allegations earlier that the Arab satellite television network was compromised by Iraqi spies.
But the network is moving towards a more reputable status in the West, with the launch of an English-language channel and hiring respected broadcaster Sir David Frost, who will join when it launches next spring.
However, it will face stiffer competition in future after the BBC World Service last month unveiled details of an Arabic-language TV station to rival Al Jazeera

The Left needs to spank out a number of armchair theorists and kids who cloak themselves with Marxism as excuse for their problems. Exclusion is needed when the cause is hampered. We are supposed to be the examples and persuaders. Assume responsibility, fuckwit!

US history repeats itself. A president's second term is always worse than his first one. If this is true with Bush, than the US is in deepp trouble.
the article says that it's because of aljazeera coverage of the chemical weapon attack on falluja, iraq.
bush gave us lessons in this event when he told blair that he wants to bomb aljazeera in the capital of one of americas close allies -qatar- were the headquarter of the u.s army in the mideast is. so this is how bush says thanks to his allies by dis-respecting them and killing there citizens ( A lesson in relations). he gave us an idea how he deals with other views where there's no view but the one pole imperialic bush view and the rest are immature ignorant evil views that want to kill the free world ( lesson in freedom of speech). bush with his nazist army attacked iraq because there were chemical weapons and iraq was immature to have these weapons because he'll hurt civilians.....it was a mistake but what happened to the people of iraq, falluja (100,000 citizen) was different they were killed not only by the multi-tone bombs but by chemicals that melt your skin (lesson in mature human decisions). america is been un-civilized non-human greedy corrupted in iraq... as viatnam. thoughtfully it'll have the same defeat with the work of the civilian patriotic ressistance but unfortunatly iraqies are alone no help no ussr no china only themselves against the only pole on earth with its iraqi, arab and multi-nationality cheep agents but iraq will succeed. for now the only thing we see -if we can- is the same viatnami disaster in iraq; the country, the people and the nation.
Bush is pathetic! He can't think staight (if at all) the real power lies behind him - the real neo-cons/facists are his advisors etc. They are the people we must bring down and keep ours eyes on...

While this wouldnt surprise me, the daily mirrors hardly the most reliable of sources for news <_<
In what relations do the Communists stand to the proletarians as a whole? The Communists do not form a separate party opposed to other working class parties. They have no interests separate and apart from those of the proletariat as a whole. They do not set up any sectarian principles of their own, by which to shape and mould the proletarian movement.
-Karl Marx
It is only by strengthening ourselves ideologically, inculcating in ourselves the values and ideals of the struggle and building up the ranks of the revolutionary party that we will make it.

What's the bet that this new BBC Arabic channel is funded by bush?
I live in America, and have not seen this story covered in american newspapers. I only saw it covered by the BBC and Al Jazeera. Most people in America have no idea of this story at all.

They included about 20 seconds of this story on CNN, but they quickly said that White House denounces these charges and they included no press confrence about it with Scott McLellan on C-Span.
Oh im sorry, I didnt realize you were being sarcastic. Sorry man.

This comes as no suprise at all.
Im actually suprised why Bush did not do it already, like the last two U$ bombings of Al Jazeera in Kabul and Baghdad. The U$ then claimed it was an 'accident', either saying that they had mistaken the Al Jazeera offices for a 'terrorist' target or that their bombs went off target.
All in all, it shows that the ruling class in any capitalist country will use violence to defend their class interests, even against civilians and the innocent, who have only done the job of reporting the news.
Yet there are still those on the Left who claim we should not use violence in return to the barbarity of the ruling class. I suppose we should just sit down like good pacifists and wait for the bombs to hit us.![]()
