The other day i was walking to collage, as you do.When this guy yelled "f**ng nazi!heil hitler you p**ck" somthing along those lines anyway. Now this confused me,because to my knowledge, i didnt look like a nazi.To my shock i found out why he had shouted this, because he saw the red star on my beret i was wearing at the time(che wanna be i know, but really does look cool). So it worrys me that people are getting us mixed up with facists.Has anyone else had similar problems?AND i was told "get out of my country you f**king commi", which was uncalled for.Im not going into what i did to the guy, because it would sound like bragging!

Yes, I once knew a girl who was like, really smart, and she even did history in school, which is why I was extrehemely confused and worried when I told her about my Communist beliefs and she replied: "Wow, that's really scary, I mean imagine you turned out to be an Irish Hitler or something!"

Yeah, I used to get that sort of shit in highschool occasionally. People are dumbasses. The best part is when they tell me to move to Russia if I like communism so much.

...revolutionaries are anti-civilisation because we are opposed to what class society defines as 'civilized' and desireable; because class society and 'civilization' are two-sides of the same coin. Hierarchal organisation, parliaments, commerce, property rights, the police, law and order, fences, borders, religious institutions, these are the things that define 'civilization.' These are the institutions upon which 'civilized society' and class society are based; and all of these will be destroyed when capitalism, the state --- when bourgeois society is pulled down and trampled on by the exploited and oppressed in the struggle for liberation. - bleeding gums malatesta

well the way i see it....is that to be honest im a bit of a mean bastard so i just get them back, people sort of expect it as im viewed as a "radical".So they expect to get an earful of somthing!
I see what you mean by being laughed at,if they knew anything they wouldnt be laughing. They would either debate about your beliefs or leave you alone.Kids have been taught that "communism is bad, dont ask why" says captain capitalism(which is a funny cartoon, its on newgrounds). Its a xenophobic issue, they dont know what it is.

In my philosophy class today we were discussing marx and nobody of the thirty some people had anything to say on the subject, intelligent or not. If you conjure up one of the most controversial figures in the last two hundred years and they still have no opinion... i'm rather disillusioned with humanity.

Thats a point i brought him up in a R.S lesson and my R.S teacher was like "um yes well...".Its odd.I dont know what the image Marx has in the U.S.A but in the U.K i get the impression he's sort of pushed aside, they try to ignore him in case anyone reads what he wrote.

R.S?

When marx was even mentioned in my highschool classes his ideas were distorted horribly. They seem to want to avoid him as much as possible

religious studies, its philosophy and ethics basically.Well at least they talk about him at your school!its like "Marx?who is this Marx you speak of?".The idea of communism isnt viewed in a good light(i live in a very right wing area). Only good thing is that one of my politics teachers is a hardline socialist, possible trotskyist. But out of a class of ten im the only one on the left, ignoreing the fact im on the extreme left!

I ran into the same problem, growing up in a rural conservative area. When i first went to high school i was the only leftist i knew. It's important that you present an alternative to the version of reality that they present. In my introductary social studies class my freshmen year, i debated regularly with my teacher on everything. in the begining nobody agreed with me but by the end of the semester i believe that i had converted a few. I at least made them question what they are told.

This reminds me of an episode of The Simpsons where McBain is flying an airplane and says: "we're under attack by communistic nazi's!" That was quite funny.
Also, after I had told some dude I'm a communist, he said: "Oh, so you're against jews?" And I'm like, err..

Thankfully, I've never had to deal with that, but if it happened, I'd simply call the person who does it a dumbass and tell him to read a book. People here are quite a-political, which I suppose is a bit better than convinced anti-communist. Recently in history class, someone asked why "communist states" call themselves "socialist republic of..." or something like that, the teacher asked if anybody else knew, and I explained, even the teacher didn't refute it.
