I made the stupid choice to join JR.ROTC in my highschool.. well okay I get free food everyday and I can eat till my heart is content because my income is below $300 a YEAR and parents don't want to pay for lunch. But it's not that bad because I'm the only one in the class that actually has an individual thought. We were discussing the war in Iraq with a couple of Marine recruiters that came one day. They kept on saying that everything over there was perfectly fine, that the media just makes it look like a warzone for ratings. I just had to say something so I stood up and said "is that why there are 15,000 wounded in action and 3 thousand dead? And the war is still contiunuing? And yet you call it a success when you have to wipe out an entire population with the civilian casualties reaching unbelievable numbers?"

Well to make a long story short I am now being harrassed by JR.ROTC members left and right. Sayingthat I am nothing but a terrorist under disguised. I really don't know what to say about it or how to even defend myself. I'm sick of all of these people that would give away the one thing they have in life, their freedom, just for national security. We have the national guard, the army, the navy, the airforce, the marines, and we need to give more away other than our lives for freedom?

    it doesn't seem reasonable.

What did you say, how did the recruiters and your classmates react?

oh and the recruiters dismissed me as someone who wasn't "patriotic" saying "this is what the media does to the minds of those who can't stand up for their countries." using me as an example

You should have asked them about the "opt-out" clause they offer to enlistees.

Oh you should have asked them what was discussed when the military had a nationwide "Meeting on recruter ethics" they had after theoes recruters were causght on tape lieing to enlistees.

Well I have plenty of chances to tell them stuff, they come atleast once or twice a month to class. And I think next we're getting Army or Army NG. But there's an Army recruiting station down the block from a friends house and a Marine down the block from the school. :\ they're TOO friendly.

JR.ROTC is like ROTC (the college program as a step below a military school). So it's two steps below let's say... west point. But it's not an full school program. You have to sign up for it and it takes one of your classes away and replaces it. But they promise stuff to you like any military organization because they can't get people by themselves (-coffcoffbribescoffcoff-). I got a Tech Sergeant rank and all the free food I can get as long as I stay in the program for three years. Plus a scholarship to college if I actually get an A in the class. It involved uniform wear once a week and have petty discussions about the military every... single... day.

It's a good class to use as study hall I like to say.

you do it to eat, eh? your in america, and you go to a public school? then your school system should have a discount/free lunch system for those who are poor. it would work out even better if you have lots of siblings who go to school with you as you will get a bigger discount. but if your poor enough, youll get free lunch. ask an administraitor about it, and all you should have to do is give your parents a form to fill out.

It's not that i'm poor, my parents are rich up to the ass (my dad inherited money) but they don't want to give me lunch money because I should "earn my own money"... plus to get free lunch you have to have a very low income. And I need to get a job anyway.

oh, i thought you were poor from the way you described it. they wont give you lunch money? then start packing your lunch. i mean, its not rocketscience. unless they wont let you do that, and if they dont, thats insane. you should make their lives a living hell if thats true.

He said "my income, yet parents won't pay." I'm assuimg that means he makes less than $300 a year, but his parents won't pay for his lunch.

I never eat lunch at school. I just do my homework and save cash

ugh i have to stop being lazy and actually explain...

I make less than 300 a year. My parents think since school ends at 2pm that I can wait till then to eat lunch. It really doesn't matter since the only lunch that is actually good in school is the JROTC lunch. I use to pay for AOL when I had a job. But we're not talking about money on this thread.

I'm in AF-JR.ROTC and we get this shitty ass Air Force uniforms that suck.

And it's like a test grade once a week and they grade you on how well you wear your uniform. Also one of the Enlisted Air Force teachers that teached got fired this year for being a racist. Lol. He was also caught having sex with students in the AF-JR.ROTC office.

I don't think this is so much "anti-fascist" as anti-militarism. I'm glad that someone had the courage to stand up to those assholes, though I really don't understand the program you are discussing. US military deaths, hoever reached 2,000 recently, not 3,000 as you put but nonetheless, well done.

ROTC = Pre-Military School preparedness program

JROTC = Pre ROTC Preparedness program.

    Used extensively in America.
