Hey, I just noticed this at the Hov site, I figure its interesting for any UK revolutionaries.
Speakers include Tony Benn MP, John McDonnell MP, Jeremy Dear and a host of unionists, as well as Jorge Martin the HoV secretary, and Orlando Chirinos who is the National Organiser of the UNT, Venezuelas new revolutionary trade union whose stated aim is socialism and workers' control.

Though I soon tire of Benn's christian-socialist speech giving, and John McDonnell's general 'Socialism in one Constituency' approach - they are relative progressive figures. Which is perhaps some comment on the general state of affairs.

No. If there were revolutionary MPs it wouldn't matter because their role by defalt, suppresses them from achieving anything.

London on 3rd of NovemeberToo close to Christmas for me to be able to afford to travel down there, need my money to buy my family presents,etc. Would have been good though, despite the snow,rain and ice :P

I for one will be making every effort to attend. It is important to show solidarity with the Venezuelan revolution and to support the Hands off Venezuela campaign as its success threaten to draw attention to it and to ultimately lead it to be subsumed by state-sponsored diversions.
Explain why this is necessarily true. Whilst there is a case for saying that it is impossible to merely transform the bourgeois state into a proletarian one, why is it that an MP or a trade unionist, and there are important speakers from the Venezuelan UNT here, can not, in your opinion, use his or her position as a platform for revolutionary ideas. There have been such MPs and no doubt there will continue to be. Surely this in itself is an achievement. To accept this is not to be a "reformist" and play into the idea that we can achieve a parliamentary road to socialism.
Your arrogance is astonishing. Here we have a meeting of revolutionary trade unionists WHO ARE ACTUALLY MAKING CONCRETE STEPS TOWARDS SOCIALISM (more than can be said for many of che-lives' armchair revolutionaries) and you wont support them because they share their platform with progressive MPs and trade unionists?!
We need to make this event as successful as possible to drown our enemies and its December the 3rd, not november.
