Nazi Gathering Turns Violent; 6 Arrested


TOLEDO, Ohio (AP) - A crowd that gathered to protest a white supremacists' march Saturday turned violent, throwing baseball-sized rocks at police and vandalizing vehicles.

Six people were arrested and police, fire and media vehicles were damaged, Police Chief Mike Navarre said.

At least two dozen members of the Roanoke, Va.-based National Socialist Movement, which calls itself ``America's Nazi Party,'' gathered at a city park to march under police protection. Organizers said they were demonstrating against black gangs that were harassing white residents.

The march was canceled, and the violence broke out about a quarter mile away from the park along the planned route.

Keith White, a black resident, criticized city officials for initially allowing the march.

``They let them come here and expect this not to happen?'' said White, 29.

Two hours after authorities called off the march, 150 officers in helicopters and cruisers and on foot, bicycles and horses continued to chase bands of youths.

I'd suggest rioting in the Nazis's neighborehood but i suspect that their farm houses are too spread out ot riot around properly and pushing over their trailer homes would just be bad sport.

Another thing to think about is why they're even there. Are the nazis trying to rally support? Are they trying to shock people? Maybe recruit new members.?

Good too see that the anti-fascist riot developed into a riot against the cops and class society. Not so good to see how media always labels rioters as criminal gangs et cetera. They also did so in New Orleans and we now thats false.

"White Trash" is synomomous more with an attitude/lifestyle than it is with class. There are numerous celebrities that are quite wealthy and are still considered "white trash".

I find "white trash" to be elietist and anti-worker and it also implies that poor whites are not really "white"... wtf, like any white person can&#39;t commit a crime or be addicted to drugs or have bad taste in music, it&#39;s only "white trash" that does this?

It&#39;s a linguistic way to seperate workers further; just like racism which blames one ethnic group for society&#39;s ills, it blames one group of white people.

Redneck is anti-worker like "wetback" although people have made a strong argument that redneck is usually in reference to racsist whites, it still has the conotation of working-class or rural white people (how do you get a red-neck? The same way you get a "wet-back", from outdoor manuel labor).

I think it&#39;s better to use "whitty" or "the man" because this points the finger at the white people who run society, not everyday white people.

And when talking about real racists, calling them racist or NAZI should be enough of a slur that adding "redneck" or "hillbilly" isn&#39;t necissary. I think it&#39;s a misconception that poor whites are the most racist since most KKK leaders were town-officials (sherifs, judges, small-business owners etc) and members of the Democratic Party.

Redneck is a lifestyle, not a class. Look at the Jeff Foxworthy bunch. They proudly proclaim their redneckiness and are making a living off of it.
