"No other Country spends the kind of money we spend on our military. Last year Japan spent $42 billion. Italy spent $28 billion, Russia spent only $19 billion. The United States spent $455 billion."

U.S. spends more than the rest of the world combined.

    And this surprises you?

America spends more on their military than the rest of the world, because they go to war more than the rest of the world.

Yeh while htis isnt surprising it's one hell of a statistic.
In what relations do the Communists stand to the proletarians as a whole? The Communists do not form a separate party opposed to other working class parties. They have no interests separate and apart from those of the proletariat as a whole. They do not set up any sectarian principles of their own, by which to shape and mould the proletarian movement.

It is only by strengthening ourselves ideologically, inculcating in ourselves the values and ideals of the struggle and building up the ranks of the revolutionary party that we will make it.

Yeah this is a good one to remember for use, when in a debate with someone.

Definately, plus its easy to use, and easy to manipulate for your benefit. Its hard to justify that we spend more money "protecting" America, than almost all other countries combined. We have to have some allies. Right?
He who was previously the money-owner now strides out in front as a capitalist; the possessor of labour-power follows as his worker. The one smirks self-importantly and is intent on business; the other is timid and holds back, like someone who has brought his own hide to market and now has nothing else to expect but - a good tanning. - Karl Marx, Capital Volume I

They spend so much yet they use cluster bombs....

Well, seeing as Iraq was in the name of america's 'defense', I can guess how much meaning the word actually has. It will count for nil once the whole world takes up arms against it. Until then, the american octopus will continue to spread its tentacles worldwide.

The U.S. government continues to spend money on an unjust and foolish war, while its own people suffer. Does that sound like a great country? Hell no

I can't belive they have the nerve to call it "defense." It makes it seem like nothing is our fault, and we're just doing what we need to do to survive.

Fuck no, no matter how pissed off I am at america, it doesn't come anywhere near the third reich. To say stuff like that you're just slapping holocaust survivors across the face. If anything, they are like the British empire or Roman empire.

Just like the Roman Empire was the most powerful Empire of it's time, it fell after a long time period of rule, so America will have its time

    From wikipedia:

It was adopted by Nazi propaganda, which counted the Holy Roman Empire as the first Reich, the 1871–1918 German Empire the second, and its own regime as the third.
Let no one charge that socialists have arrayed class against class in this struggle. That has been done long since in the evolution of capitalist society. One class is small and rich and the other large and poor....One consists of capitalists and the other of workers. These two classes are at war. Every day of peace is at the expense of labor. There can be no peace and good will between these two essentially antagonistic economic classes. - Debs

You sure on that? There are hundreds of other countries in the world, y'know.

But you need to add a lot of 'em to catch up with Uncle Sam, that's for sure. Washington's in an arms race with itself.

Yeah, a Reich (literally, empire) is an aggressive, expansionistic Germany. One could make a case that Germany has become the Fourth Reich, with reunification and moves to reestablish its ability to conduct foreign military interventions. No fascism implied.

    To put it in perspective:

US spends 455 billion on military "defense"
    US allies spend 263 Billion
    Russian Federation 50 Billion
    China 31 Billion
    "Axis of Evil" 7 Billion

    The US spends:

    41 Billion on Children's health
    34 Billion on Education (K-12)
    10 Billion on Humanitarian Aid
2 Billion to reduce dependancy on oil

    To:
feed all the world's starving children it would cost 25 Billion a year
provide healthcare for all uninsured children in the US: 13 Billion a year
rebuild America's schools: 12 Billion a year for 10 years
acheive energy independence with clean technology: 8 Billion a year
provide preschool for all American children: 2 Billion a year

$60 Billion for all that and $455 Billion on weapons of mass destruction so we can waste other countries? I never would have guessed!

No, really, I didn't think it was that bad. Wow.
