I didn’t see a forum about war, so I figure it would be best to post this here.

Last week, there was an anti-war protest in D.C. I’m the President of the College Libertarians of Towson at Towson University, so I and some of the other members of the group went to the protest. It was great. I’ve got some good friends in the Towson Campus Greens, and they were there, too.

A lot of people were asking me about my shirt, which read “BUSH IS A SOCIALIST”. The beautiful thing is that everyone that spoke to me about it spoke respectfully. I’m so used to hostility in politics, since I do a lot of debating on the Axis of Justice website, of which I’m an administrator. But there was no hostility there (except for the hostility that the Anarchists showed to news-stands).

All true Capitalists oppose the war in Iraq. All true Capitalists oppose the government giving Halliburton no-bid contracts. All true Capitalists oppose the initiation of force. The great thing about events like this is that they bring people together. It didn’t matter that I disagreed with the economic tyranny promoted by the Socialists that attended, because we were all united in a common goal: bringing the troops home and ending the imperialist war.

Sure, there were some Right-Wing Socialists (i.e. Neo-Conservatives) there, about 200 of them, supporting the war and the policies of their Socialist Fuhrer, but their numbers were so small, it was almost laughable. About 67% of America is against this war. Mainstream America is against this war. The war-mongerers are in a minority, and this gives me hope.

But we can’t give up now. The anti-war movement is picking up. We need to continue putting pressure on the War Party. We need to let the politician ruling elite know that we oppose their unjust invasion of Iraq, and that we want our brothers and sisters brought home now.

I don't understand..either you are being sarcastic or you have a serious identity conflict...your message is full of political contradictions that shows your narrow understanding of terms like imperialism, socialism and capitalism...please elaborate on how is bush a socialist
"...Standing at a historic point, I will repay with my life the loyalty of the people. And I say to you that I am certain that the seed we have surrendered into the worthy conscience of thousands and thousands of Chileans, will not be able to be reaped at one stroke. They have the power, they can make us their vassals, but not stop the social processes, neither by crime nor by force. History is ours and is made by the people."

Bush supports using military might to achieve his goals. Not unlike Stalin.

(Now, I know there are some that will say Stalin was not a Socialist. But I don't agree. I'll agree that he was not a Communist [outside of party identification], but I don't think Communism is something that can ever be achieved. Anarchism is a much more realistic goal.)

Bush supports Big Government, and has in fact not vetoed a single bill that's come before him.

He supports the USAPATRIOT Act, which restricts freedoms in a way that would make Pol Pot wet.

He also signed into law the REAL ID Act, which is a great way for Big Government to track innocent citizens.

He hates private property. He supports high taxes, and has signed into law extremely huge deficits. In fact, the last budget he signed was 7% larger than the previous one, and 41% larger than Clinton's biggest budget. Bush spends and spends and spends. It's easy to be a big spender when you're doing it with other people's money.

I wouldn't be surprised if he supports the ban on flag-burning. Other nations that have banned flag-burning include China, Cuba, and North Korea. Chuck that up to Nationalist Socialism.

(Some may claim that Nationalist Socialism is not Socialism, but again I can't agree.)

He believes government has the right to define marriage. Not much different than something described by Orwell in 1984.

He believes in the initiation of force.

    He's anti-Choice.

He hates free-trade of drugs, and believes government has the authority to restrict such trade.

He hates free-trade of guns, and believes government has the authority to restrict such trade.

He has done nothing to end the anti-Free Trade embargo against Cuba.

He's supported NAFTA, CAFTA, etc., which are all anti-Free Trade. True Capitalists oppose these treaties.

There are just so many things...

    Hope this helps.

This thread is pointless, and has a pro-capitalist tang. In other words its pretty much over. Im closing it. If anyone desperately wants me to open it fine, I will.
"How you cling to your purity, young man! How afraid you are to soil your hands! All right, stay pure! What good will it do? Why did you join us? Purity is an idea for a yogi or a monk. You intellectuals and Bourgeois anarchists use it as a pretext for doing nothing. To do nothing, to remain motionless, arms at your sides, wearing kids gloves. Well, I have dirty hands. Right up to the elbows. I've plunged them in the filth and blood. But what do you hope? Do you think you'll govern innocently?"
