What do you make of this? http://www.revolutionaryleft.com/index.php...entry1291936732

i personally think we should rip them down whenever we encounter one, its bad enough to that corparations use his image to sell things let alone using his image to impose religion. <_<

I am inclined to agree with you there. Though I do like the lines "Was Jesus just an ordinary baby or someone who started a revolution?" and "Are you dreaming of a white Christmas? Or do you think that Jesus was black?"

Jesus and Che did have some similarities. But I can't see Che liking the use of his image, but he would hate it being used by the Church.

Che really needs his image protected from the Church and coorporations.

That really did make me laugh. The "White Christmas" comment is so racist.

What is now happening to Marx's theory has, in the course of history, happened repeatedly to the theories of revolutionary thinkers and leaders of oppressed classes fighting for emancipation. During the lifetime of great revolutionaries, the oppressing classes constantly hounded them, received their theories with the most savage malice, the most furious hatred and the most unscrupulous campaigns of lies and slander. After their death, attempts are made to convert them into harmless icons, to canonize them, so to say, and to hallow their names to a certain extent for the "consolation" of the oppressed classes and with the object of duping the latter, while at the same time robbing the revolutionary theory of its substance, blunting its revolutionary edge and vulgarizing it. Today, the bourgeoisie and the opportunists within the labor movement concur in this doctoring of Marxism. They omit, obscure, or distort the revolutionary side of this theory, its revolutionary soul. They push to the foreground and extol what is or seems acceptable to the bourgeoisie. All the social-chauvinists are now "Marxists" (don't laugh&#33. And more and more frequently German bourgeois scholars, only yesterday specialists in the annihilation of Marxism, are speaking of the "national-German" Marx, who, they claim, educated the labor unions which are so splendidly organized for the purpose of waging a predatory war!

I read the article and it seemed like something from monty python, "a sissy in a white nighty" what the fuck's up with that. anyway, che does embody jesus, only jesus would have held a peaceful revolution, like he did against the romans. ORGINIZED religion is the opiet of the masses, not religion.

I think it's terrible to use Jesus's face on Che's body, Che was an Atheist after all and probably wouldn't appreciate this. Although this may cause many Christians to become Communists by doing this. They will study about Che and Communism through the use of Che's image and our numbers shall grow.

I always thought the Church was opposed to Che. The Catholic Church in particular is strong opposed to Communism.

That's true. Most of Catholics are opposed to any kind of Communism. But I'm a Catholic since I was born. My whole family is Catholic. I am like the balck sheep of the family because of: my socialist ideal, having books of Che and Communism all over my room, and getting into arguments about the right path a goverment should take. I would die for my religion anytime. But I would do the same for my ideals. An interesting thing though, Pope John Paul II said that he personally admired Che for being a man that fought for the oppressed of this world in his own way. I think that's awesome.

The catholic church is overall anticommunist, but some catholics in central and south america practice a brand of catholisism that is somewhat leftist and interprets the rants of jesus more literally.

You sound a lot like me. I'm Catholic as well, although not a very devout one. My family is quite devout, but they still like Che. In fact, a few of my family members have read books on him after I have been done with them. We're all left-wing and don't let our religious beliefs get in the way.

Even for those who disagree with his politics, they can't admire the qualities he exhibited. There are few people like him.

I go to church with a Socialist who mentioned Che and we had a long discussion on him. My Assistan Pastor knows as him as a "Socialist" not a "Commie" so that has to be a good sign

    i agree with Skinz.

i have no problem with Jesus. it's organized religion and the current state of the church that i have a problem with. if anything, Jesus was a socialist, and would probably be completely disgusted with the way that the church is. so ironic.

http://www.churchads.org.uk/ here's the people who are responsible for this poster.

I say we all email ([email protected]) them to show how silly we think their idea is, how would they like it if we put Che Guevara on the cross (all respect to Christians).

    It makes me so angry!
