So I am at a crossroads here. I have noticed a growing number of racists in my town. Neo-Confederate rednecks and the like. I've also noticed a growing number of confederate flags in my town. The way I look at it I have two options here I can either steal these flags and burn them (possibly publicly) or I can peacefully protest outside of the houses with these flags. I would like to see what some of you think is my best option.

I wouldn't do anything unless you have gathered support from the community first. If you ry to do anything and you are outnumbered, you may find your self waking up in a hospital one day, or worse, not waking up at all.
Some of these racists have no second thoughts about taking the life of someone who is an "enemy to their racial purity" and what not.

Don't start a physical fight if you will loose it. Start like Marcel said with gathering support in your community, organise anti-racist meetings, speeches, pamflets etc. The most important thing is to get people on your side and not burn (replacable) flags. Which will probaly only piss them off and you will either get your ass kicked or thrown into jail, or more probale; both.

It's not per se hurting a person, the focus is more on violence. Stealing and burning someone's flag is acounted as violence. It will justify retalliatory violence.

Why is everybody so obsessed with that flag? It’s just a symbol, and stealing or burning it will not end racism. You’re just fighting the symptoms, not the disease.
Besides, some of the people who fly it may not even be racists.
I live in Oregon..... This is as far away from the southeast as you can get. There is no other reason to fly a confederate flag in my town.

The confederate flag is pretty much a historic symbol...but it also stands for "white dominion over slave races". It use should be careful monitored...it is a "potential" hate symbol.

Freedom of expression is a huge part of communism, however when you are expressing a prejudice hate how is that communist? The comment you made sounds nationalist socialist. If I said "I am a communist so I believe I can go around saying 'hey niggers fuck off!' to any black person I want!" how would I be a communist?
Anyways Dan, I will help you protest. Oregon has nothing to do with the CSA. I know for one that these flags are not meant to be historic symbols. They are just people being racist towards the whole...I think...five black people in our town.
If a fool wants to be a Nazi, let them be. What I'm talking about is their judicial right to be a Nazi. If we didn't allow them this, we would just be following a path of repression.

Take the flags down (at night), if you can take it down every time they put a new one up then they soon should get the message.Afterwards you could cut them up and post them back.(piece by piece)
avoid violence unless there are a lot of you(i mean A LOT) because they will take revenge...i'm a boxer/kickboxer and i know i could beat most people,but if they take revenge(with a knife or gun) i'd be screwed.so avoid it.

I reckon you should take the flags at night, and protest peacfully. They'll peice it together that you took down the flags but they won't have proof, and although they may come after you, as long as you've got plenty of guys with you you'll be able to hold your own and call the cops or something.
