You can read their platform.
Of the parties in the US they make the most sense. They are more than just environmentalists, they are leftists but not communists. However they carefully avoid saying they are NOT communists--they just condemn the former authoritarian states of eastern europe but don't call them communist.
They are a step in the right direction and probably the closest thing that is currently possible to socialism in the US.

I wonder if the development of the Green Party in the U.S. will follow the same track as the Greens in Germany. The German Greens were once pretty far left; now that they've tasted a little power (probably some money too!), they're well on the road to (capitalist) respectability--they've become a part of the "responsible" political scene.
In the U.S., they hold a few local offices of little power and they have very little money (especially by American political standards). They can publicly take some pretty radical positions.
If they do emerge as a significant presence on the national political scene, what will happen then?
I confess a grudging admiration for Ralph Nadar; he's not a communist of any kind, but he's a crusty old bastard who despises corporate greed and the political asskissers of the rich. Once, when asked about the differences between Bush and Gore, he said "the only difference I can see is the speed with which their knees hit the floor when some CEO walks in the room." Good guy!
If the U.S. Greens sell out, Nadar won't be involved.
Listen to the worm of doubt for it speaks truth.

Exactly, Nader is an asshole but I agree with his platform and you don't have to worry about him selling out or even compromising a tiny bit. He's proven that.
Yep. We need more assholes in politics.
this land is our land
Naders the only honest, trustworthy person in politics. I'm sick of these democratic twits saying he cost Gore the election, fuck Gore, fuck Bush. They're one in the same.

Hey! We have a Green Party too in Canada! Its new...but not as well established as the CPC (Canadian Communist Party) or socialist NDP (New Democratic Party)

The greens are international as well. I believe there is a kind of agenda they roughly stick to thats agreed by all green parties.
I may be wrong, but I do believe something at least similar to this occurs.
It's the best way forward, no baggage.

At least on the National level, the Greens follow a basic platform, but each state and region has a seperate platform, at least thats how it is in NM.

the Australian Greens are a good mob. the leader Bob Brown has vetoed a lot of the bullshit legislation.
another greens senator was protesting outside a private american base called pine gap. so have a lot of respect for them.
