U.S. baseball nowadays is a feckin joke. Its like a microcosm (sp?) of how the U.S. works (if not the world). Something like 20% of the players make 80% of the money. And those teams that bank it with exclusive T.V. deals and the like, make something around ten times as much as the smaller revenue teams, so its basically only like 6 teams competing for the "world" series.
Not Done! Aka sin miedo.
There are more than six teams capable of winning the world series, but it is still kind of bullshit. Its all big money and nobody really looses except the fans. Neither side is right, they need to realize that they are entertainers and, dammit, I want my entertainment!!!

4. Seattle Mariners
5. Oakland Athletics
6. Anaheim Angels
7. Minnesotta Twins

Umm, can't think right now....but all these teams have the payrolls to compete.

While I think its kinda weird seeing millionaires have a union, it grew from the days when the owners were making millions off of the players, and the marquee players were getting less then 25% of the money a year, when they were the ones that brought all of the money in. So they formed a union and got the reserve clause thrown out. Now the players are making out like bandits. But there union basically only fights for the marquee players. The mean salary is so far away from the median salary that it is ridiculous. The system needs to be fixed definetly.
And also.... the Oakland Athletics have a payroll of about 40 million, the Twins about 40 million, and the Angels around 60-70 million. So these teams were built on sound baseball moves. While u can compare them to teams like the Rangers or Mets. They have over 100 millon dollars in salary.. and where are both of them, in last place or nowhere near the playoffs. Kinda like our current system in the US. All the cards have to fall in the right place AND u have to be exceptional to rise up from a dire situation. While u can still mess up if u are rich, but there is a lot less of chance that it'll happen. A game is a bad analogy for the world though.

BigBlakAf- You're right about Oakland and the Twins. I put them on the list because they are contenders (not because of payroll). And the other teams like the Mets and the Red Sox SHOULD make the playoffs when you consider the payrolls they have but........

Aight I get ya. It's just dumb to waste all of that money, the Red Sox honestly have about a 70 million dollar team (if it was the A's spending the money) and they are paying them 100 million. It is ridiculous, and it looks like they are going to strike, no doubt about it. But I'll end up coming back, cuz baseball isn't important enough for me to get so upset about it that I would never watch it again. But it is important enough for me to miss it.
