Anti Racist Action will be having a meeting on Thursday to discuss
strategies and tactics to oppose neo-Nazi organizing in Toronto.

When: This Thursday at 8pm
Where: 519 Church Street Community Centre (Auditorium) - north of Wellesley.

We will begin with a brief review of recent events, including our actions
against the Aryan Nations in the Beaches and our counterdemo against
neo-Nazi Zundel supporters in July.

We will also have a brief discussion on our position on the Security
Certificate issue. To clarify, ARA opposes the use of the Security
Certificate in all instances, including its use against Zundel. We believe
the measure is an authoritarian tool which the government intends to use
against legitimate refugees and that the only reason they are using it in
the Zundel case is in a cynical attempt to make its use against others more
palatable. In fact, the government does not need to use the Security
Certificate against Zundel, it could have simply refused to accept him in
the country when the US deported him here. Nevertheless, we feel it is
essential to oppose neo-Nazi organizing whenever and wherever it occurs -
the costs of allowing them to organize openly and gain a foothold is too
great, particularly for immigrants, people of colour and religious
minorities which they target. We don&#39;t counterdemonstrate against Zundel and
his supporters because we support the Security Certificate. We do so because
we oppose neo-Nazism and Zundel.

Most of the meeting will be a participatory discussion on where we should go
from here.
