In english class, we're learning about the holocaust, I thought I would be helpful by bringing something into class, which was a book about various things during world war II. The book was going to be passed around, by the teacher told me not to because it mainly talked about Aushwitz, which unfortunately "The Soviets got to first." according to her. She eventually told the class about Aushwitz, but edited the facts, and said that America liberated EVERY concentration camp. Hopefully the kids weren't stupid enough to believe that the picture of the man with the red star on his hat helping out the skeletal-like person was NOT an American.

You must have a great English class. All that right-wing capitalist bullshit. Must make for some funny stuff though.
There were two “Reigns of Terror,” if we would but remember it and consider it; the one wrought murder in hot passion, the other in heartless cold blood; the one lasted mere months, the other had lasted a thousand years; the one inflicted death upon ten thousand persons, the other upon a hundred millions; but our shudders are all for the “horrors” of the minor Terror, the momentary Terror, so to speak; whereas, what is the horror of swift death by the axe, compared with lifelong death from hunger, cold, insult, cruelty, and heart-break? What is swift death by lightning compared with death by slow fire at the stake? A city cemetery could contain the coffins filled by that brief Terror which we have all been so diligently taught to shiver at and mourn over; but all France could hardly contain the coffins filled by that older and real Terror... --- Mark Twain

I would just walk up to her and say the same as LardLard :

Why are you trying to erase history ?

You many not agree with communism but they fought the hardest battle of WW2 and lost millions of lifes.
You may deny a political system but you may not deny bravery.

That kind of people just piss me off.

Forgive my ignorance, I don't really understand what that quote means. I heard it many times.

"He who controls the past, controls the future. He who controls the present controls the past."

I would love to explain it Nateddi...

[i]He who controls the past, controls the future.[/b]

The person that controled the past will eventually lead up to become the leader of tomorrow. That's basically all it is saying. For example, the past was once controlled by Rome, who would eventually lead up to become conqueres, and years later, own most of everything.

He who controls the preset controls the past...

The people in chage today, are controlling history, therefore the people in charge now are controlling our future, because they control the past. They change things, and make them what they want. If the government believes that America was the sole winner of World War Two, they will spread it, they will change the history books, and altar the past. Which leads to the future.

It's a bit confusing. I hope I explained some stuff..

I understand the second part, makes excellent sense, I'm still a bit confused about "He who controls the past, controls the future." and the whole Roman analogy.

i just realized how lucky i am to have a leftist history/english teacher... he made "Lies my teacher told me" required reading. that is a great book
Direct action is key- don't just sit at your computer and rant at leftists you disagree with slightly- get out there and DO IT. Organize. Change your life, and change the lives of those around you. The reason the waterheads are still in power is because we aren't being loud enough.

My turn to explain ,

Well it means once you are in control ( like the romans )
you can have power for a long age after that.
I mean you are a king and later your son is, and his son.
Its about once getting the power and then have it
for a long time...
