I am intersted in knowing peoples take on the new and improved Iraqi President and cabinet that is to go into effect on July 1st? What do people think of the supposed religious and ethnic balancing act the UN is trying attain? And will this puppet government last any considerable amount of time?

i'll be going on the anti war march on june 30th - i think the handover is a scam - the power won't be going to iraqi people - the troops wont be leaving. nothing will change.

the government is a puppet government choosen by the the USA. no different to pinochet, saddam or anyone else they back when it suits them.

It's reminiscent of the French setup in Lebanon: the president had to be Maronite, the prime minister Sunni, the speaker of the house Shi'a, etc. We all know how that led to wonderful harmony among all religious sects in Lebanon.

Any member of a group, say the Shi'a, is assumed to represent that group. Nobody is allowed to represent people from more than one group.

    Divide and rule.

This is a point that's been made by Iraqis critical of the occupation and its puppet political setups, as well.
