Before anything else I must ask every Creationist to refrain from making this into a debate on which theory is correct.

For evolution to progress a there must be some sense of "survival of the fitest." every other animal that has ever lived have delt with this golden rule. but, now there is a race that doesn't quite follow all of mother natures rules and we tend to call them humans.

If one animal has a positive mutation that helps it hunt or flee from predators or adapt to it envirorment that trait better that it brothersand sisters it is then passed down to its offspring. after a few thousand years all of that species in that area are equiped with that trait.

Humans however, have used technology instead of evolution. for example; instead of running faster we create a device that moves us along at a quicker pace.

so, my question is, has technology ended a humans need to evolve?

Very interesting. I think, since we rely on immediate adaptation (technology) rather than waiting for evolution to make life easier, than we will never evolve anymore than the current state our bodies are in.

Mutation and genetic drift still happen, and some people reproduce more than others. But yeah, selective pressures on humans have been greatly reduced.

But for any species, biological evolution is slow and doesn't necessarily lead to any particular goal. Cultural evolution, whether or not it's ended biological evolution, offers better possibilities for improving humanity.

I hope we have escaped from the laws of natural selection...the law of the jungle's a nasty business, and we're better off without it.

No, that's ridicuous. We will just continue to evolve in a technilogical environment.

I was going to post this quote in the Inspirational Quotes thread, but I think that this a well suited place for it anyway!

"As man advanced gradually in intellectual power, and was enabled to trace the more remote consequences of his actions; as he acquired sufficiant knowledge to reject bonefull cutoms and superstitions; as he regarded more and more, not only the welfare, but the happiness of his fellowmen; as from habit, following beneficial experience, his sympathies became more tender and widely deffused, extending to men of all races, and finally to the lower animals, so would the standard of his morality rise higher and higher.

Looking to future sensations, there is no cause to fear that the social instincts will grow weaker, and we may expect that the virtuous habits will grow stronger. The struggle between our higher and lower impulses will be less severe, and virtue will be triumphant."

no it is the establishemnt of society that has lowered the need for evolution of the human being,

before society a blind man would die,
before society a deaf man would die,
before society a man with no legs would die,
you get the gist, so by not allowing nature to take its natural path the gene pool has been expanded it is alowing multiple variations of genetic mutations.

the way it works is that if the mutation doesn't hinder the survival of the species then it will be kept, this means that the gene for alcoholism will noty be eradictaed unless we let alcoholics die, inhumane but if you want man to evolve interms of species and health/strength you would have to be Hitler

however the terminology of fitness means that fitness in mind, and mechanical will continue to evolve,

Hitler hated JEWS, not everybody who had some sort of problem.

Uh no, that's incorrect. Hitler was a social darwinist and hated pretty much anyone with any sort of disability.

the way it works is that if the mutation doesn't hinder the survival of the species then it will be kept, this means that the gene for alcoholism will noty be eradictaed unless we let alcoholics die
Not neccessarily, in order to succeed evolutionarily, you must also have a high rate of reproduction. In other words, you can survive all you want, but if you drink your entire life away, chances are you won't pass your genes on.

yes but alcoholics supposedly have a gene, so letting them die would over millions of years eradicate them,

and as to hitler, hitler's arien race was a preffered species of human, he killed disabled, mentally ill and jews
