Default Not This Time! Act Now to Stop Ethnic Cleansing [Gary, IN, 2-23]

Not This Time! Act Now to Stop Ethnic Cleansing

Refuse Fascism has issued a powerful new statement, First They Came for the Muslims, Then They Came for the Immigrants…Not This Time! It explains, “There is a qualitative and comprehensive nature to the major escalation now afoot in the savage attacks on immigrants and immigration.” In the face of this escalation, we must all ACT NOW and come to the defense of those first and most viciously under attack and strengthen the movement to drive the fascist Trump/Pence regime from power. What can you do?

Read and circulate’s statement. It gives a sense of the scale & scope of the attacks on immigrants and can compel many people to take action to stop the attacks.

Get the statement to your neighbors, leaders of organizations, artists, clergy, scientists, people of prominence, students groups. Find people who are deeply concerned about the regime’s fascist direction, who could be influencers of other people and connect with them. Enlist them in developing plans, and get their contact information to stay in touch.

Join us in Gary IN on Feb 23rd!

    NO More Deportations

WHEN: Friday, Feb 23, 10 am to 12 pm
    WHERE: Gary IN Airport

    Facebook event here

NWI Resistance has called for a rally & protest at the Gary, IN Airport. This is the airport where hundreds of our neighbors are loaded onto planes every week to be deported, after they are ripped away from their families and loved ones. We encourage everyone who is able to attend and say NO!

The escalation of ICE raids, arrests of our neighbors, and terrorizing of whole communities has reached new levels, with genocidal implications when people are deported to almost certain death. It is up to ALL of us to say NO! Not This Time!

If you are in the Chicago area and need a ride or can offer a ride to others, please contact us at [email protected]. Refuse Fascism and our partners, Friends Who March and United for Democracy Now, are crowd funding so we can provide a bus to bring more people to the protest. Every donation will help!

Fuel the Movement to End This Nightmare

It is a simple fact. Without funds, we will not be able to reach the millions of people who are agonizing with each day’s news of the latest attacks, outrages, and lies of this regime. We rely on YOU to fuel this movement. Right now, our goal is to reach $100,000 by Monday, tomorrow. We are at $96,517 as we write this email.

Every donation, at any level, powers this movement and represents a commitment that we appreciate deeply. Please give whatever you can and share this appeal with friends and family who are also looking for a meaningful way to act to stop these nightmares. There is nothing more impactful than supporting the movement whose sole mission is to mobilize to drive out this fascist regime!

    Chicago Refuse Fascism Chapter Meeting

    WHEN: Monday, Feb. 12, 7 pm - 9 pm
WHERE: Trinity Episcopal Church, 125 E. 26th & Michigan Ave (free off-street parking)

    Facebook event here

We will discuss the statement, responses and ideas we have gathered from discussions with others, and plans to mobilize for the Feb 23rd deportation protest at the Gary, IN airport. Actions to oppose Steve Bannon speaking at the Univ of Chicago are also on the agenda. We will look at the attemped fascist incursions at major universities around the country under the guise of "free speech." Everyone who wants to stop these nightmares is welcome!

One Week Away- Action Against Deportations on 2/23

Eyewitness accounts indicate that the numbers of people being deported out of the country on flights leaving from the Gary-Chicago Airport are increasing.

When we mobilized on October 6th last year, we believed roughly 100 people per week were being deported. Now, it appears to be closer to 200 people every week.

While Congress struggles just to protect "Dreamers", the detention and deportation system is ramping up. Activists and leaders are being targeted. Families are being torn apart. People are targeted in "sanctuary" communities. Officials are abusing their power. Politicians continue to cruelly and cynically malign and vilify our loved ones, friends, neighbors, and co-workers.

Join us to take a stand and say no more. Too many people in the greater Chicago area don't know that deportations are being carried out in our own backyard. Help bring attention to the real human lives being destroyed by our cruel, racist and exploitative immigration system.

This is one of the many moral tests of our time. We can prevail, if we stand together.
