Stand with the Dreamers! March with United We Dream! Thurs Feb 8

In the name of humanity we refuse to accept a fascist America

This Thursday, Feb 8, is the day when the Congress is to reconvene to finalize their budget. The Democrats are poised to accept Trumps's "deal": a vague promise of future legal status for the 800,000 DACA recipients in exchange for further militarization of the border, including Trump's border wall, and millions more dollars to be used to hunt down, terrorize, detain and deport immigrants, ripping apart families and forcing even more immigrants into the shadows.

This is but one part of what we in Refuse Fascism have identified as the launch of "an all-out comprehensive and qualitative leap in the implementation of a program of genocidal ethnic cleansing of immigrants – particularly targeting Black and Brown peoples".

We must not allow this to go down! The Dreamers have been fighting this, risking arrests and deportations, almost single-handedly. This has to change. Everyone with a conscience needs to throw into this battle and resist!

And we must resist in a way that strengthens the movement to drive out the whole fascist Trump/Pence regime, through mass, sustained, non-violent political protest.

We strongly urge everyone receiving this email to publicize, attend and bring others to a march called for by Houston United We Dream:

Thursday Feb 8, 4 pm

MECA Cultural Center
1900 Kane St, Houston, 77007

Dream Act Now: The Resistance
(Please click on this link to their facebook page and share broadly):

"Join our Immigrant Youth this Thursday as we march to City Hall to demand protection from State and City officials for the millions of undocumented youth that will benefit from a #DreamActNow. Since Trump killed DACA, over 17,000 immigrant youth have lost their protections and 850 more lose it every week. It is painful to see politicians playing with our lives but we are rising up in defense of ourselves and the values of fairness and justice that this country is supposed to represent. The urgency across the country to stop the separations of families is real, and Congress can make that happen..."

The protest will begin at MECA at 4 pm, and will march to City Hall, 901 Bagby St, Houston, TX 77002

Houston Refuse Fascism calls on you:

Join our contingent in the march.

3 pm: Meet outside the building. Look for our signs.

We need to plan other forms of resistance as well, including on the campuses! And if you are already doing that, please let us know. Email us at [email protected] or text/call 281-254-4833
