Yesterday, around the world, women again took to the the streets to say NO to the Trump agenda. Many of the marchers - in Berlin, Barcelona, New York City, Los Angels and more - carried signs demanding freedom for 16-year-old Palestinian activist, Ahed Tamimi. Ahed was arrested in the middle of the night on December 19, 2017. A few days before then, during a protest of Donald Trump’s declaration on Jerusalem, she stood up to soldiers trying to invade her home. For this, Israel intends to make an example of her.

Ahed’s military court trial on 12 charges begins January 31, the day of her 17th birthday. On January 30, the night before, across the world, we will again take to the streets.

Join us on January 30, the day before Ahed turns 17 and starts trial. Print out a poster to carry at your protest. If you live in the US, we can send you an 18x24 inch poster. Email [email protected] to request this.

Last week, the military judge ruled Ahed “too dangerous” to be released. She and her mother, Nariman, are to be remanded through trial. Israeli military court has an over 99% conviction rate. Holding Ahed violates the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child, to which Israel is a signer. It is a kangaroo court of injustice.

Join us in the streets on January 30, the day before Ahed turns 17 and starts military court trial. Print out a poster to carry at your protest. If you live in the US, we can send you an 18x24 inch poster. Email [email protected] to request this.

Having lived her entire life under occupation, and having spent the past month in military detention, Ahed’s childhood has already been stolen from her. Now, she is facing up to 10 years in prison. On January 30, we will demand freedom for Ahed, Freedom for Jerusalem, freedom for Palestine.

    In solidarity with Ahed Tamimi,

Everyone at Hebron Freedom Fund and Youth Against Settlements

P.S. At this time, the Tamimi family is not asking for people to donate funds for Ahed. If you wish to check in with them about donations, please contact Bassem Tamimi, Ahed's father, directly. He can be reached at by phone or Whatapp at +907 599 428 654

Happy 17th Birthday Rally to #FreeAhedTamimi and all Palestinian Children in Israeli jails

WHEN: Wednesday, January 31st, 2018, at 5 PM

WHERE: Israeli Consulate, 500 W. Madison, downtown Chicago

    RSVP on Facebook

On Wednesday, January 31, join USPCN, Jewish Voice for Peace, American Muslims for Palestine, and others to wish a Happy Birthday to Ahed Tamimi, who will be turning 17 behind bars, as she awaits her trial in an Israeli military court system which convicts 99.8% percent of Palestinians that come before it.

Join us as we celebrate her birthday and ask commuters to call their legislators! We'll be outside the Ogilvie Transportation Center at 500 W. Madison - the Israeli Consulate is inside this building.

We will call for her immediate release and freedom for all Palestinian children in Israeli jails, as well as for legislators to support the recently-introduced Promoting Human Rights by Ending Israeli Military Detention of Palestinian Children Act, H.R. 4391, which, if passed, would ensure that U.S. tax dollars aren't subsidizing the mistreatment of Palestinian children.

BACKGROUND: On December 19, Ahed Tamimi, a 16-year-old Palestinian girl, was stolen from her home in the dead of night by Israeli soldiers. She was arrested after a video that her mother, Nariman, took went viral, showing Ahed's refusal to back down in the face of soldiers who were trying to enter their house. The Tamimis are well-known in their village of Nabih Saleh for their weekly protests against Israeli occupation and apartheid.

Ahed has been in the custody of Israeli Occupation Forces for weeks, and has been charged with assault in an Israeli military court for slapping the armed soldier who attempted to force his way into her home hours after after her 14-year-old cousin was shot in the face with a rubber-coated steel bullet by the Israeli military.

The charges she faces could carry a sentence of up to ten years. Each year, the Israeli military arrests and prosecutes around 700 Palestinian children.
