November this year marks 100 years since the Balfour Declaration, which helped establish a Jewish national home in Palestine, and led to the expulsion of the Palestinian people from their land.

During Thanksgiving weekend in Chicago-IL, AMP's "10th Annual Convention for Palestine in the US" explores the devastating impact that this historical moment continues to have on Palestinians today, entitled: "100 Years Since Balfour: The Movement Continues".



The Balfour Declaration was issued on November 2, 1917 by the UK’s then-foreign secretary Arthur Balfour to Lord Walter Rothschild, a prominent leader in the Zionist movement, and helped pave the way for the creation of the State of Israel. The British government recently commemorated the letter's centennial "with pride" despite its shameful role in facilitating the mass transfer of Jews to Palestine during the British Mandate (1920-1948), which resulted in massacres, dispossession, and the ethnic cleansing of indigenous Palestinians from their homeland.

The Balfour Declaration represents 100 years of colonization and repression against the Palestinian people. We solemnly mark this historical moment by renewing our commitment to fighting all forms of injustice and oppression.

American Muslims for Palestine resolves to uphold the principles of freedom, equality, and self-determination for all people through peaceful advocacy, education, and grassroots mobilization.
