    Default Hello my comrades!

I just stumbled opon this page while searching for some good socialist pages. I am mainly a Trotskyist but i am also influenced by Luxemburgism. Im fairly new to socialism, i started of as an socialdemocrat but i became disillusioned by socialdemocracy since its still a form of capitalism. I got introduced to anarchism on my own and from there i changed to Marxism and later Trotskyism. Ive learned most of what little i know from reading books and watching socialist youtubers. Im pro idpol and i am not a supporter of the Soviet union, China or North Korea. I joined up because i socialism with fellow socialists and learn more about socialism on the way.

Hi, welcome, and thanks for the thoughtful, detailed introduction.

On the latter part of your post I'd wonder if you'd like to weigh in on *what* Russia is today, post-Soviet-Union / post-Stalinism. And, more specifically, if it's currently 'oppressed' within the larger 'international [bourgeois] community' context. There's been an extended number of posts / discussion around such issues at this thread:

    Russia is an Imperialist Country

Hi and thank you for the welcome!
On the topic of Russia, I would say that it is an conservative ologarchy bordering on a dictatorship seeing as how long putin has been in power and his methods in ruling. They also have a low life expectancy compared to other counties. From what i know I would say that the russian government is opressive economically and socially, Seeing how they treat homosexualls, the fact that its an oligharcy, the arrests of protestors and journalists.I would definitely agree that Russia is an imperialist state with them having a part in the ukrainian civil war, their chechnyan war, the Russio-Georgioan war and Russia sending troops to Syria. I know this was an short answer but its the only things I can think of at the moment, even tho its short i hope it will give you an understanding of were i stand on the question of Russia according to my current knowledge.

Hi and thank you for the welcome!

Yup -- it's at the pinnacle of what we do here, uncontroversially. (grin)

On the topic of Russia, I would say that it is an conservative ologarchy bordering on a dictatorship seeing as how long putin has been in power and his methods in ruling.

    Okay -- good point.

They also have a low life expectancy compared to other counties. From what i know I would say that the russian government is opressive economically and socially, Seeing how they treat homosexualls, the fact that its an oligharcy, the arrests of protestors and journalists.

    Yeah -- domestic policy.

I would definitely agree that Russia is an imperialist state with them having a part in the ukrainian civil war,

I myself, though, would chalk this one up as a *positive*, since Ukraine fell to fascist forces there during Euromaidan (similar to supporting Syria against ISIS).

their chechnyan war, the Russio-Georgioan war and Russia sending troops to Syria.

Again, on these events Russia had a historically-progressive position and role. (We can't treat Western incursions as being neutral, benign, or equivalent.)

I know this was an short answer but its the only things I can think of at the moment, even tho its short i hope it will give you an understanding of were i stand on the question of Russia according to my current knowledge.

    Yup, thank you.

Aren't you at all concerned that by being so dismissive of geopolitics you'll overlook the Western-real-imperialists-versus-semi-colonies-like-Russia dichotomy, though -- ? If you conflate *all* nations together as being equivalent-imperialists you'll miss those that *should* get national-liberation in the world context, like Syria, or Iran. Let's call it a 'leveling-upward' instead of the status-quo Western imperialist hegemony that *currently* exists. And of course none of this *precludes* working class actions for its own class independence from the bourgeois patchwork nation-state system altogether.

    Hi Grouchy,

Nice to meet you. I'm new to RevLeft too. Well, I'm a Marxist within the intersectional ecofeminist circle. I'm here to read more on The Capital by Karl Marx which until now was not accessible to me. Thanks to the study guide prepared by RevLeft however, the reading is becoming enjoyable.
