Day by day, the chorus of voices falsely warning of Russian “aggression” grows louder and more belligerent: Devious Russia hacked the U.S. presidential elections. Imperialist Russia took over Crimea. Manipulative Russia is behind the fighting in Donbass. Aggressive Russia is threatening Eastern Europe. Terrifying Russia is now “our” biggest foreign enemy.





Even many otherwise clear-headed progressives are affected by the propaganda coming from the Democratic Party and the mass media. Let’s step back a moment from the rhetoric and look at the overall picture to see who really is the aggressor here. [read more]

Join the One America Registry

In response to Trump's Muslim ban and discussion of forming a Muslim Registry, Soundvision, a major source for audio-visual material for mosques and Muslims in the U.S. along with the Muslim Peace Coalition and around 50 other peace, justice and civil liberties groups is proposing a "One America Registry." This will be a registry for all people to sign. It will be kept very secure and be used to show your support for Muslims and immigrants who are under attack by the Trump administration. It will also be used to call people together in protest and resistance when the administration increases attacks on Muslims and immigrants. I never liked this whole "russians interfered with the election" nonsense, I guess its working since democrats are already getting people to resign (looks like jeff sessions might be next), but who cares if its true or not, it has nothing to do with who won, or why the democrats lost. It just stirs up these old russophobic fears and who really cares in the end? What happens if another country does this for the democrats next election, or worse yet what if some government decides to support a US candidate knowing it will have a detrimental effect on the person they are supporting? Could you imagine if Pakistan began supporting the democrats in the next election, through email hacking and propaganda campaigns or whatever?

I guess im supposed to be happy that some of trumps worst cabinet picks are being forced to step down, but his new appointees are probably just as bad. The US actually almost went to war with Iran recently https://theintercept.com/2017/03/01/...-brink-of-war/ I dont think any change of faces would've prevented this

Maybe democrats think they can even pull off an impeachment with this russian nonsense? either way who cares? so the Russian government spread a bunch of propaganda against one candidate? its nothing the US government hasn't done before (and is actively doing). Meanwhile the democrats lose an election despite putting a 70 year old moderate up for election with a previous incumbent with successful two terms, with some of the best approval ratings you could ask for, and all the democrats have to say is "well the russians spread some lies about clinton and that's why we lost"

I dont really know who the democrats plan to run in four years but I hope they are of Russian descent since they've become such a persecuted minority in America

Chicago Jewish Federation: Stop Funding Islamophobia


Dear Chris,

How can you fight hate when you fund it?

That’s the question we took to the Jewish United Fund of Metropolitan Chicago (JUF) this yesterday. JUF seeks to position itself as a representative for all Chicago-area Jews, and is an affiliate of the Jewish Federations of North America.

Yesterday we marched to their offices with our new report detailing the over $700,000 dollars the JUF has contributed to organizations that foment hate.



Our demands are simple:

1. Immediately cut off all funding to anti-Muslim hate groups, through donor-advised funds or other funding streams;

2. Commit to rejecting future contributions from funders that are contributors to anti-Muslim hate groups;

3. Make a written and public statement addressing JUF funding of anti-Muslim hate groups and affirming JUF’s commitment to the above actions.

SIGN OUR PETITION

The Southern Poverty Law Center describes the organizations the JUF funds as a “group of propagandists…at the center of what is a large and evolving network of Islam-bashing activists” which spreads the Islamophobic ideologies that enable promotion of anti-Muslim policies such as the current administration’s desired Muslim Ban.

We are outraged that the JUF is giving funds and offering the cover of “respectability” to platforms for racism and bigotry.

Our message to Jews who share our values of human rights for all is to join us in holding Jewish institutions accountable when they do this in our name!

The organizations the report focuses on are truly despicable - and what all of them have in common with the JUF is that they regularly attack and dehumanize Palestinians to justify Israeli oppression.

But they don't stop with their anti-Muslim, anti-Arab funding, these groups foment hate against black people, trans people, and pretty much every community currently under attack.

Take action now and join us in holding the Jewish United Fund of Metropolitan Chicago accountable.

Join us in being an ally against all forms of bigotry.
