Hey all,
I don't really use forums like this but here I am. I'm a Marxist-Leninist-Maoist living in the midwestern United States and I organize with the Revolutionary Student Alliance. I've been a communist for several months now, though a Maoist for less time than that, and I started my journey into radical leftism about a year ago. I started out an anarchist, became some kind of Marxist while I was reading and working, and now the overwhelming dominance of Maoism in the world communist movement has led me to investigate this ideology and come to the conclusion that Marxism-Leninism-Maoism is the communism of the future. I was never quite satisfied with Marxism-Leninism and thought many anarchist critiques of ML had some merit (indeed, there's a running joke among Maoists that we all used to be anarchists, even Mao himself was an anarchist at one point)—Maoism seemed to address these concerns and provide a solution to the simultaneously petty-bourgeois and revolutionary contradiction inherent to Marxism-Leninism.
I know this is a space where quite a few different schools of thought are prevalent, so it's similar to /r/socialism in that regard. As such, many of you might take issue with what I'm saying and probably question Maoism. This is a good thing; as progressives and revolutionaries we should be very critical of all ideologies that claim to have revolutionary potential. But I think the scientific nature of Marxism-Leninism-Maoism will quickly prove its worthiness if comrades are employing it correctly.
I am an anarchist, can you explain what merit maoism has which might turn me around? And welcome!
"I am vegan because I have compassion for animals; I see them as beings possessed of value not unlike humans. I am an anarchist because I have that same compassion for humans, and because I refuse to settle for compromised perspectives, half-assed strategies and sold-out objectives. As a radical, my approach to animal and human liberation is without compromise: total freedom for all, or else."
"It takes no more time to be a vegetarian than to eat animal flesh.... When non-vegetarians say ‘human problems come first’ I cannot help wondering what exactly it is that they are doing for humans that compels them to continue to support the wasteful ruthless, exploitation of farm animals."
