J20 Washington DC - Shut Down Trump's Inauguration
J20RESIST.ORG DONATE FACEBOOK EVENT PAGE
WE REFUSE! NO PASÁRAN! SHUT DOWN TRUMP’S INAUGURATION
J20resist.org is a resource to assist this historic moment. It is a way for peopleall over the country to coordinate to push back against Trump and those who enabled his rise to power.
At J20resist.org groups and individuals can connect up, coordinate travel to DC, connect with local actions – student walk-outs, stay aways, shut downs and rallies in the U.S. and around the world.
On January 20th, hundreds of thousands of people will be storming the streets across the US against Trump’s accelerated assault on migrants, LGBTQ people, women, unions, people of color, and the entire working class.
Now more than ever, we need massive resistance in the streets to shut down Trump’s agenda of racism, sexism, migrant-bashing, cutbacks and war. With capitalism in decline, this agenda can be a recipe for fascism.
While both the Democrats and the Republicans are telling us now to accept the results of the election and look to “work with” President Trump, we completely refuse to accept this racist billionaire as the leader of this country. Trump has no solutions for the real issues faced by billions of workers across the world.
Capitalism, imperialism and the racist cops occupying our communities are the real problem. We, the millions of people ready to take direct action against the attacks of a Trump administration, are the solution.
Only mass action can push back this racist, sexist agenda. We are entering a new era of historic resistance, led by the struggles of Black Lives Matter and the water protectors at Standing Rock. We stand ready to put our bodies in front of deportation busses, bulldozers, tanks and other war machines. The working class and oppressed must join together in this historic moment with the full understanding that real power is in the streets, not in the White House and not the Pentagon.
Let’s show on January 20th that another world is possible. There is an alternative to racist terror, sexist oppression, homophobia, transphobia, migrant-bashing and bigotry. There is an alternative to capitalism and fascism.
On January 20th, let’s shut down DC with a historic mobilization of the people, united against Trump’s assault on the people.
Let’s fight for the revolution we really need. Now is our time to be in the streets.
We say NO to Trump, NO to Clinton, NO to capitalism, NO to war and NO to the two-party system that supports all of the above.
On Friday, January 20th, we will make sure our collective voice is heard throughout the halls of power and across the world.

PCJF Challenges Trump PIC and Federal Authorities Over Efforts to Block Jan. 21st Inauguration Protests
Facebook Twitter
Photo: Alice Ollstein
Attorneys from the Partnership for Civil Justice Fund along with activists organizing demonstrations during and after Donald Trump's Inauguration held a press conference this morning demanding access to sites in Washington, D.C., for protests.
At least a dozen groups representing tens of thousands, if not hundreds of thousands of people who plan to come to Washington, D.C., around the Inauguration, including for planned marches on the day after the Inauguration, Saturday, January 21, are being denied permits by federal authorities for key sites in D.C. including the Ellipse, the Lincoln Memorial, Lafayette Park, the National Mall and other locations.
The PCJF has uncovered that the National Park Service has issued a massive, omnibus blocking permit to the Trump Presidential Inaugural Committee authorizing it not only exclusive use of virtually every major assembly site in Washington, D.C., under NPS jurisdiction, but additionally allowing Trump’s PIC to keep those locations from being used by others for weeks before and after the Inauguration.
The PCJF issued a letter today to the NPS demanding that it withdraw its omnibus set-asides as an unconstitutional abridgment of First Amendment rights and allow organizations access to these federal lands under a neutral first-come, first-served permitting system.
PCJF Executive Director, constitutional rights lawyer Mara Verheyden-Hilliard stated: "We are faced with the extraordinary and unconstitutional situation where Trump’s private partisan Inaugural Committee is being allowed to decide where or even if demonstrators will be allowed to protest the Trump agenda on federal land in the nation’s capital.” She continued, “However, for all of those who are concerned, who are thinking about changing their plans - because that is the unconstitutional effect of what the Park Service and Trump's inaugural committee are doing -- we're here to say that it is lawful and safe to peacefully march in Washington D.C., and we welcome everyone to the District of Columbia to engage in their free speech rights."
Carl Messineo, Legal Director of the PCJF, stated, "On the first full day of the Trump Administration, people are coming from all over the country to stand together and articulate their vision of a better future. We are committed to defending the First Amendment rights that belong to the people to engage in free speech and assembly at this critical moment.”
The future of free expression under a Trump administration is on the line. PCJF will continue our work to defend the right to assemble before, during and after the inauguration to fight back against racism, misogyny, and stand in defense of immigrant and Muslim communities.
We need your support to defend fundamental rights that are under attack.

Trump’s election was illegitimate and his ascension to power would be even more so, and must not be allowed. It is the moral duty of us all to seriously confront the potential consequences of what this regime could do in power, and then to act accordingly.
Please read, sign and embrace this Call for a massive month of resistance before Donald Trump is inaugurated and has the full reins of power in his hands. Millions of us must create such a profound political crisis before the intended inauguration (January 20, 2017) that the fascist regime is actually not able to take the reins of government.
The month begins with nationwide protests Monday December 19, when the Electoral College meets. On New Year's Eve, we take protest to Trump properties here and across the globe. January 14-16, MLK weekend, there must be massive protest, including in Washington DC, which grow to millions.

NO! In the Name of Humanity,
We REFUSE To Accept a Fascist America!
Donald Trump, the President-elect, is assembling a regime of grave danger. Millions of people in the US and around the world are filled with deep anxiety, fear, and disgust. Our anguish is right and just. Our anger must now become massive resistance – before Donald Trump is inaugurated and has the full reins of power in his hands.
Should we fail to rise with determination and daring in our millions now to stop this, the consequences for humanity will be disastrous. We, the undersigned, know in the depths of our beings, the catastrophe that will befall the people of the world should the Trump/Pence regime assume full power.
We therefore CALL FOR A MONTH OF RESISTANCE beginning on December 19, reaching a crescendo by the January 20 2017 Inauguration.
Our resistance must spread rapidly to every sphere and every corner of the country. Because we refuse to accept a fascist America, millions must rise up in a resistance with a deep determination such that we create a political crisis that prevents the TRUMP/PENCE fascist regime from consolidating its hold on the governance of society.
The Presidency of Donald Trump is illegitimate.
Donald Trump did not win the popular vote. Not even close, he lost by 2.5 million votes. He won the Electoral College – an institution set up in 1787 to protect slavery. This legacy of the most brutal oppression of Black people has become the means that enabled the election of Trump and Pence.
More fundamentally, it is the fascist character of the Trump/Pence regime and what they are planning to do which renders it illegitimate and an immoral peril to the future of humanity and the earth itself.
Under the slogan “Make America Great Again,” Donald Trump has viciously attacked Mexicans and Muslims, threatening to register and deport millions, closing borders. He incites fear and hate of all who are “different” – nationalities, religions, or gender. He crudely demeans and degrades women, openly boasting about molesting them. He champions white supremacy and whips up a racist lynch-mob mentality. Trump has mocked the disabled. He is a bellicose militarist, who threatens to use nuclear weapons. He openly advocates war crimes — including torture. He vows to pack the Supreme Court with justices who will take away the right to abortion and gay rights. He denies science – calling climate change a hoax and will wreak devastation on the environment. He has attacked and threatened the press and stirred up his supporters to do the same. He has threatened to strip citizenship for constitutionally protected dissent. Trump has utter contempt for facts and the truth, and consistently lies to advance his agenda. As for the rule of law, Trump went so far as to openly threaten his opponent, Hillary Clinton, not only with jail, but even assassination. By any definition, Donald Trump is a fascist. He has put together a regime who will carry out this program, and worse.
This is fascism and it is a very serious thing. It has direction and momentum that must be stopped before it becomes too late.
Fascism foments and relies on xenophobic nationalism, racism, misogyny, and the aggressive re-institution of oppressive “traditional values.” Fascism feeds on and encourages the threat and use of violence to build a movement and come to power. Fascism, once in power, essentially eliminates traditional democratic rights. Fascism attacks, jails, even executes its opponents, and launches violent mob attacks on “minorities.” In Nazi Germany in the 1930s and ’40s, fascism did all these things. This is where this can go. And yes, Hitler himself could “talk graciously” when he felt it would serve his interests and lull his opponents.
In the world today, shockwaves reverberate. Over decades in the U.S. virulent movements of white supremacy and anti-immigrant hysteria have gained momentum. A narrow, intolerant, and political form of Christian fundamentalism has been brought into government and policy at all levels. The Trump/Pence cabinet and judiciary will coalesce all of this and worse with horrific consequences at the highest level of power. No election, whether fair or fraudulent, should legitimize this. “Reaching across the aisle” only legitimizes that which is illegitimate.
If you work with fascists you normalize the road to horror. You cannot try to “wait things out.” Those who lived through Nazi Germany and sat on the sidelines, looking on as Hitler demonized, criminalized, and eventually rounded up one group after another, became shameful collaborators with monstrous crimes. Don’t Conciliate...Don’t Accommodate...Don’t Collaborate!
The Trump Regime Must and Can Be Stopped Before It Starts!
This is not wishful thinking but could be made a reality if all who hate what is represented by this fascist regime translate our outrage into massive mobilization to create the political conditions which make this possible. We are millions. Our only recourse now is to act together outside normal channels. Every faction within the established power structure must be forced to respond to what we do – creating a situation where the Trump/Pence regime is prevented from ruling.
We call on each and every one who opposes what this regime stands for, and what it will do, to take part in and actively build, this resistance and refusal. Organize. Plan. Act.
The Month of Resistance
Starting 12/19/16, it begins – the day the Electoral College meets to vote in each state: hold a press conference or a protest. Starting now, distribute this Call everywhere and on social media, host house meetings, fundraising events concerts and forums. Everywhere step up the resistance: walkouts from schools and work, protests against attacks and threats on Muslims, women, people of color, LBGT people – all linked to the objective of Stopping the Trump/Pence regime. The struggle must grow.
On MLK weekend, there needs to be massive demonstrations of many thousands in key cities, including Washington, D.C., that grow to millions over the next week, protests that don’t stop . . . where people refuse to leave and more and more people stand up with conviction and courage demanding:
NO! We Refuse to Accept a Fascist America!

#J20Resist March!
6 am: Begin to gather in front of Union Station (anti-Columbus Circle), Washington DC
10 am: March to the White House
On January 20th, hundreds of thousands of us will hit the streets in Washington DC (https://www.facebook.com/events/1114075848690917/), Los Angeles and countless cities large and small across the country to protest the inauguration of racist, sexist billionaire Donald Trump. Join us for our first battle.
We are busy organizing scores of buses from Boston to Detroit and transportation from as far south as Charlotte, North Carolina. But we need your help. Make a $30 donation (http://www.workers.org/j20/donate/) to cover the cost of one person’s trip to DC in solidarity with this critical event or visit our website to connect with local groups and mobilize (http://www.workers.org/j20/organize/). If you can’t be with us in the streets, help us spread the word and collect donations.
Our march on the White House will serve as the first blow against the Trump Presidency. Trump’s all-out assault on the working class, especially targeting people of color, women, LGBTQ people, migrants, Muslims and unions, urgently requires a united fightback movement. Rather than preparing for mass demonstrations, Democrats have focused on blaming Russia, ignoring their own attacks on the working class which caused their loss.
We know Russia didn’t do it! The capitalist system is to blame, with its racism, sexism, anti-LGBTQ violence, Islamophobia, war-threats, cutbacks and more.
Only the people united can defeat Trump. Join us on January 20th as we join together to shut down Trump!

I definitely support counter-Inaugural demonstrations and plan to attend one.

J20 GLOBAL Appeal for protests against Trump, the new face of U.S. imperialism
#J20Resist: Call for global actions against Trump, the new face of U.S. imperialism
On Friday, January 20, a new U.S. administration will be sworn in.
On Friday, January 20, we will protest continuing U.S. wars for global domination.
The new Trump administration enters office promising to:
Boost U.S. military spending and the capacity to wage war;
Escalate attacks on Latinx, Muslim, and other immigrant and oppressed communities;
Expand U.S. nuclear weapons capacity;
Gut environmental regulations and grant impunity to corporate and military polluters;
Increase state repression against Black, Native and other oppressed nationalities; and
Launch a wholesale attack on the working class in the U.S.
On Friday, January 20, in Washington DC and cities across the U.S., hundreds of thousands will take the streets to protest an agenda of war and racism.
Whether the Democrats’ Hillary Clinton or the Republican’s Donald Trump sat in the White House, U.S. imperialism would pose a threat to peace.
Each candidate competed to exceed the other in enthusiasm for U.S. wars, repression and austerity, and in devotion to the ambitions of US. capitalism.
But the open racism, sectarianism, anti-immigrant and anti-working class bigotry of the incoming Trump administration has aroused a mass response.
This unprecedented outpouring of resistance presents an opportunity to mobilize against war and racism, and to defend the interests of workers globally.
Make Friday, January 20 a day of global action to build the most anti-war, anti-racist and pro-worker impulses of the mass reaction to the new U.S. administration.
Please consider what is possible in your country and in cities across the U.S. Can you protest a U.S. embassy, consulate or mission? In the U.S. plan actions at Federal Buildings and central city plazas. Can your union, party or other organization issue a statement against Trump and his agenda for U.S. imperialism? However you can, please take action!

New York Times Yesterday, O'Reilly Tonight, Help Build Momentum
Refuse Fascism
Chris
Yesterday, our full page ad in the New York Times was seen by hundreds of thousands. Online sign-ups and donations jumped. Common Dreams and Variety took notice.
Tonight, Carl Dix and Cornel West, co-initiators of Refuse Fascism, are scheduled to appear on The O'Reilly Factor. They will be bold, poised and uncompromising in calling out the fascism of Trump and calling forward the resistance of millions. Tune in at 8pm on the East Coast, or check your local listings.
You are needed to build on this momentum!
Spread the word of this ad – and tonight's O'Reilly appearance – to everyone you know. On social media, on the phone, at work, through email.
Gather family and friends tonight. Read the Call to Action out loud. Discuss. Make plans. Watch O'Reilly together — don't forget to tweet during the broadcast using the hashtag #NoFascistUSA.
Donate as much as you can – we are fighting to stop a catastrophe for the whole world.
Your funds will make the difference in mobilizing people in the streets, in making signs and stickers that spread the “NO!” far and wide. Your funds are needed to publish this Call in more places – like the Washington Post and beyond.
We have 14 days until the inauguration that must not happen. As jazz musician Matthew Shipp recently put it:
"[W]e have to shut down the whole country--- in an unprecedented movement of saying no to feces trump--everyone needs to do what they can--millions and millions need to be involved to stop business as usual in all ways and bring the country to its knees."
Come DC! Starting Saturday, January 14, and building every day the streets of DC must be flooded with people to prevent Trump-Pence from taking power.
If you can't do that, take to the streets in your own city – all across this country – and don't stop. Hook up with actions already planned, or make your own and send them to be posted on refusefascism.org
Finally, a great new resource:
Many have asked, “How could Trump-Pence actually be prevented from ruling?” and other important questions. We have answers! Check out the new FAQs.

PCJF announces imminent litigation over Inauguration protest permits
Partnership for Civil Justice Fund
Dear Chris,
(Credit: @mikafrak on Twitter)
Today the Partnership for Civil Justice Fund announced imminent litigation over the National Park Service and Trump's Inaugural Committee's ongoing withholding of public space for permitted protest around the inauguration.
Please donate to support this fight for free speech.
As discussed at a press conference this afternoon, the PCJF notified the NPS by letter that it was in violation of the permanent injunction entered against it in 2008 in federal court litigation brought by the PCJF and gave it until Friday to issue permits for free speech activities or face legal action.
Below is an excerpt of a Reuters article:
Civil rights lawyers threatened Thursday to sue the U.S. government agency that manages much public land in Washington, accusing it of quashing dissent by not issuing permits for protests of Republican Donald Trump's presidential inauguration.
Up to 900,000 people are expected to pack into the nation's capital for the New York businessman's January 20 swearing-in to his first political office. Some plan to criticize Trump's more controversial promises, including plans to build a wall along the Mexican border and deport illegal immigrants.
Only three of the 26 groups seeking to stage rallies either protesting or celebrating Trump's election independently of the Trump Presidential Inaugural Committee have received permits.
The Partnership for Civil Justice Fund on Thursday said it would sue the National Park Service, which manages spaces including the inaugural parade route and the grassy Ellipse near the White House, if the permits are not issued by Friday.
"Fifteen days before the inauguration, the National Park Service and the Trump Presidential Inaugural Committee are stonewalling and refusing to release permits that are vitally needed by organizers in order to plan and execute peaceful, lawful free-speech activities," Mara Verheyden-Hilliard, the fund's executive director, told a news conference.
The Park Service and the Inaugural Committee, a private group, had no immediate comment on the lawsuit threat.
The Park Service has maintained it is following a procedure in place since 2008 for presidential inaugurations by turning over control of sites along the parade route from the Capitol to the White House. The Inaugural Committee has said it needs all the space allotted, according to Park Service spokesman Mike Litterst. ...
Verheyden-Hilliard, a successful litigator for Washington protesters for more than a decade, said the permits sought cover spaces along the Pennsylvania Avenue parade route on January 20, and other spaces, including the Ellipse, the following day.

Tucson coalition prepares to fight back against Trump
By staff
Tucson, AZ – In southern Arizona the city of Tucson is set to join the nationwide people’s mobilization in opposition to the inauguration of President-elect Donald Trump. Many have responded to the call to reject his agenda of hate, criminalization, deportation and the oppression of the multinational working class in the U.S.
Immigrant rights action group, Lucha Unida por Padres y Estudiantes (L.U.P.E.) will be part of the Occupy Inauguration March on Jan. 20. This broad coalition seeks to build an independent movement that represents the multinational working class. The popular mobilization supports the demands of the immigrant rights movement, Black Lives Matter, the rights of indigenous nations, healthcare as a human right, ending the war, and raising the minimum wage.
L.U.P.E will lead the march from the downtown Mercado San Agustin and to the mayor’s office to deliver a demand letter, telling the city of Tucson to declare itself a sanctuary city and take concrete measures to ensure the security of the undocumented immigrant community. The demands include a much-needed municipal identification card, which will greatly benefit the most vulnerable communities and blow against the racist SB1070 law.
This march is part of the Legalization for All Network national call for of action.
While the march is scheduled to begin at noon, after arriving at the mayor’s office, the speakers will talk about the sanctuary movement which has been led locally by the faith organizations since the 1980s. Also, Dreamers, L.U.P.E members and other community organizers will address the crowd before delivering the demand letter.
The march will travel through the main downtown streets. It will include the Tucson Water Protectors, who have been bravely organizing direct actions to bring attention to oppression of indigenous people who are opposing the Dakota Access Pipeline.

Great video & poster; let’s share!
Refuse Fascism
Hi Chris
The fact is this: Trump-Pence are illegitimate… fascist… and more people are sounding the alarm. Big cheers to Meryl Streep last night and to others, all over, using the platforms and openings that they have to tell the truth. She may not have said those precise words, but she gave a strong reminder as to the reality of some of what it would mean – how disastrous it would be, in so many dimensions – if these two actually DO put their hands on the levers of power.
That’s why we need millions in the streets BEFORE the inauguration, demonstrating in all kinds of different ways, refusing to go home, saying the simple but profound word “NO!”, and thereby creating a political crisis and a real chance to reverse this illegitimacy… this fascism. The people to do that are there; now is the time to reach them.
There’s a lot that people can do today to do that. There is now a place to be in DC to start things off this Saturday. This is great news, and brings out that this is really happening. Here is a great video of volunteers who are in DC now calling on people to come out at 4:00 pm Saturday January 14, and go here for the call itself in print form. This is where to be to act to prevent this horror from happening.
Let’s spread these on social media. And those who absolutely cannot get to DC can act in concert where they are.
+ YouTube Video
Wednesday January 11, in the midst of confirmation hearings for Jeff Sessions and others in Trump's legion of doom, Refuse Fascism will publish a full page NO! in the Washington Post newspaper.
Reach out to friends and associates to donate generously to pay for this message, and to support the efforts in DC and across the country to reach all the people who are looking for a way to stop this before it starts.
DONATE
Download NO! posters here and duplicate them, getting the NO! out and up everywhere we can, beginning to saturate neighborhoods, city centers, universities and other institutions. Getting this everywhere is part of changing – and charging – the atmosphere, letting people know they can act BEFORE the catastrophe comes.
Saturday it begins: get in the streets… stay in the streets… prevent Trump-Pence from ruling.
For a better world,
The National Office Team

March for Abortion Rights - Counter Protest to March for Life IL
Sunday at 1 PM - 3 PM
219 S Dearborn St, Chicago, IL 60603, United States
Chicago Campaign to Expose Crisis Pregnancy Centers
https://www.facebook.com/events/655285021309121/
Join fellow pro-choice activists and Planned Parenthood supporters on Sunday, January 15 in downtown Chicago to counter-protest the "March for Life" walk. This is the year we must fight harder than ever to preserve our right to CHOOSE. Join us and help us spread the word.
We will meet across the street from Federal Plaza (where the March for Lies is being held) on January 15 at 1PM. The exact address of our meeting spot is 219 South Dearborn (outside of the Dirksen Federal Building). We will then march through the streets of downtown Chicago. We will chant, yell, carry signs and be VISIBLE. Our protest will end around 3PM.
Background: Each January, right wing anti-abortion activists bus hundreds of protestors to Chicago to mark the anniversary of Roe v. Wade. We won't let them do so unopposed.
With rabidly anti-choice republicans about to take control of all three branches of the federal government, it is absolutely vital that we make our voices heard, loud, proud, and in public. Join us to fight for abortion rights and show that we will stand up for bodily autonomy.
This is an anti-racist, anti-sexist movement. All genders, races, and faiths are welcome. If you believe in the right to CHOOSE, JOIN US!!

Build the meetings - See Washington Post ad
Hi everybody!
The ad in the Washington Post hit today right in the midst of resistance to the nomination of Sessions and continued controversy over Trump himself. This ad points a way forward – action that can be taken now to prevent this monstrous catastrophe from happening.
But how do people do that? Tonight and tomorrow, we bring ourselves, and everyone we can reach out, to the meetings happening in different cities. See that list here. If you're in a city where a meeting is not yet planned, organize one, get out the word and send us the details. At these meetings and on RefuseFascism.org you can learn more about and contribute to developing the plans for DC and everywhere. We will figure out together how to make it real. We need to GET ORGANIZED. Getting to this meeting, and bringing others, is the most important thing we can do right now.
But let’s also:
Make a donation and raise funds towards reaching and mobilizing the tens of millions of people needed to STOP the Trump/Pence fascist regime.
Get word out on the Post ad – on social media in particular, as well as face to face.
Twitter: @refusefascism Facebook.com/refusefascism Instagram: refusefascism
Get the NO! up all over, everywhere we go.
Spread word on the great things done to expose and stand up to Sessions.
See you at the meetings!

Saturday: Day of action to protect immigrants and refugees
AFL-CIO
Chris,
I’m terrified right now. I came to this country as a political refugee to escape war in my home country of Ethiopia. I was a teenager and didn’t know what to expect.
I was welcomed with open arms by many in the Los Angeles community I landed in. I’m a proud American but, as a black immigrant, I’m really scared about what’s going to happen and many of my friends and neighbors are scared, too.
But, just because I’m scared, doesn’t mean I’m not going to fight—and I'm counting on you to do the same.
Tens of thousands of people will be showing up in solidarity with immigrants and refugees this Saturday, Jan. 14, for a day of action.
Find an event near you for Saturday’s day of action to protect immigrants and refugees.
Many are concerned that raids, detentions and worse will occur immediately after the president-elect takes office. This is a time for togetherness and unity.
The specter of mass deportation is terrifying to men and women who live and who work here, who stand in line with us at the grocery store and whose children attend our schools. Extreme immigration proposals will tear at the very fabric of our society and our values, and we will not stand for it.
Instead of uprooting and deporting aspiring Americans—our co-workers and our neighbors—we really must embrace each other. Instead of building walls, we must be bound together in solidarity. These are the bedrock principles that the labor movement has always stood for. These are the bedrock principles we must continue to fight for.
In the weeks and months ahead, if the GOP does what it has promised, millions of working people will be afraid to go to work, to take their children to school, let alone speak up when they encounter abuse or exploitation. They will need information, support and active solidarity.
Let’s show them that we’ve got their backs. Sign up to attend an action near you this Saturday, Jan. 14, to protect immigrants and refugees.
In Solidarity,
Tefere

#Reclaim MLK: Take Action Now!
Movement for Black Lives
Chris --
Two years ago, the Movement for Black Lives continued in the tradition of civil disobedience and direct action to reclaim the narrative of the Civil Rights Movement from corporate America, Hollywood, and others bent on sanitizing Black history rooted in radical tradition.
#ReclaimMLK is a call to connect our contemporary movements, and to eschew respectability in order to embrace the radical courage of our people in the present. Today, that original call is even more urgent.
On January 16, we’ll reclaim the legacy of MLK and the contributions of other civil rights warriors whose resistance to oppression pushed the country toward equality. But this year, we’ve expanded #ReclaimMLK to #Reclaim&Resist: From MLK to Inauguration, to include an entire week of actions from January 16-20. Join us.
Over the course of the week, people across the country will take action with us to realize a safe, free and beautiful future for Black people—one based on inclusivity and justice, not hate and fear. To reclaim the legacy. To reclaim our story.
Visit M4BL.net to find and an action near you—or plan one of your own. Text FORWARD to 91990 for updates and join in on the conversation using #ReclaimMLK. Now is the time.
Onward,
Movement for Black Lives

Jan 20 plans. RESIST Trump
![]()
Dear supporters,
We have been busy mobilizing for thousands to join us at the mass resistance to Trump, #J20Resist – j20resist.org.
So far we have
Initiated buses and carpools from over 15 cities to march at #J20Resist in DC, along with actions across the U.S.
Launched a call for global actions across the world against Trump on January 20th
We worked with local groups in DisruptJ20 to secure permits to rally and planned a march on the White House during Trump’s parade.
Plans are in place for legal observers, jail solidarity teams, if there are any arrests during J20, medical teams, mass housing at local churches and working with the press as best we can to get our revolutionary message out.
Our D.C. Plans are to rally at Union Station, at "Anti" Columbus Circle starting at 6 am and march at 10 am to the White House. We will have an ending rally McPhearson Square, a block from the White House.
Now more than ever, we urgently need your support to make this mobilization possible gofundme.com/protest-trumps-inauguration. A donation of $25 will get another person a seat from our buses from New York and Philadelphia. A $60 donation can help us to mobilize people from North Carolina and Detroit.
Please, if you cannot make it to DC, consider making a donation to this important movement. We need it now more than ever.
While the Democrats want divert the rage against Trump into a stronger, pro-war stance against Russia, the people of the U.S. must continue to fight independently of both parties for what we desperately need. We need jobs, health care, education, justice for migrants and people of color, an end to militarism and war and more. We don’t buy the fake news and the outright lies meant to distract us from our real task, creating a revolution to end the rule of the two parties of capitalism.
Let the Anti-Trump struggle blossom into a struggle against the entire system of capitalism, white supremacy, LGBTQ bigotry, oppression of women, attacks on migrants, police terror, union-busting, and more!
This massive mobilization in D.C. and all around the country is a step in building the unity we need to fight Trump and the whole capitalist system. J20Resist is working in participation with the following groups, and many more:
BAYAN Philippine Coalition,
Committee to Stop FBI Repression,
DisruptJ20,
Freedom Road Socialist Organization,
International Action Center,
Michigan Emergency Coalition Against War & Injustice,
