Friends!
In one week, on Saturday 10 December 2016 from 6 to 9pm , is RCF's annual Human Rights Day celebration with live music by Benjamin SittingBull, local businesses providing food and drinks, and our guest speakers MorningStar Means and Earth-Feather Sovereign presenting "Standing Rock, Human Rights and Women." Saturday will be an evening of food, knowledge and our Giving Tree where you can donate to RCF programs as well as the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe. Join us!
Buy your tickets and RSVP so that Twana Catering can prepare the appropriate amount of their delicious food.
In other news, the largest private security company G4S announced that it will sell most of its business holdings in Israel acknowledging the "reputational damage" done to the company by its investment in Israel. This is a significant BDS (Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions) victory! However, G4S remains on the BDS list because of its remaining business holdings in Israel. G4S is also involved in human rights violations internationally and in the US. Reports since September have identified a G4S presence in providing security to the North Dakota pipeline and at Standing Rock. Check out NPR's recent report: The Standing Rock Resistance Is Unprecedented (It's Also Centuries Old).
Looking forward to seeing you on Saturday!
In solidarity,
The Rachel Corrie Foundation for Peace and Justice
