Default URGENT!! Please help with a paper I'm writing!!!!!!!

Hi, I'm writing a paper on online discourse about communism, I was wondering if you could possibly answer a few questions for me!

    1. Why do you think RevLeft is an efficient way for communists (or those interested in the ideology) to gather and communicate ideas?

    2. What would you say are the main common goals of members of RevLeft?

    3. Do you believe members of RevLeft are accepting of new members, and if so, why do you think that is?

    4. Is there any specific lexis or modes of communication that members of RevLeft must know/learn in order to partake in the discourse?

My paper is due in 7 hours (I know, I procrastinated way too much) and it would be a huge help if people responded!!!! Thanks!

    No problem!

    1. Why do you think RevLeft is an efficient way for communists (or those interested in the ideology) to gather and communicate ideas?
It is efficient because Revolutionary Leftists share a substantial ideological common ground, the unquestioned prejudices, assumptions and received wisdom that elsewhere goes under the label of bourgeois liberalism.

    2. What would you say are the main common goals of members of RevLeft?
    To administer the capitalist state.

    3. Do you believe members of RevLeft are accepting of new members, and if so, why do you think that is?
Accepting, same reason as 1. above.

    4. Is there any specific lexis or modes of communication that members of RevLeft must know/learn in order to partake in the discourse?
Watch CNN and you'll get the gist of it.

    You're welcome!

    Ok.

    1. Why do you think RevLeft is an efficient way for communists (or those interested in the ideology) to gather and communicate ideas?
Why are you assuming I think that? It isn't. A Party or a Study Group is way more efficient.

    2. What would you say are the main common goals of members of RevLeft?
Most of them? Post about random stuff and chill, readying themselves to go back to work. Some might come here looking forward to educate themselves in revolutionary leftist theory. They should read Lenin instead.

    3. Do you believe members of RevLeft are accepting of new members, and if so, why do you think that is?
Yes. Why wouldn't they? This is a free forum, as long as one follows the rules, he can stay around.

    4. Is there any specific lexis or modes of communication that members of RevLeft must know/learn in order to partake in the discourse?
Yes, it is inevitable that a complex set of theories will have something alike to a dialect of it's own. marxists.org has a dictionary of marxists terms AFAIK.

I know the feeling. You are welcome.

And don't mind Sectarian, he is one of the people that came here to troll but has not (yet) broken the rules

Another question for anyone willing to answer:

How do you feel about the public perception of communism (especially in the United States), and how does it affect your interactions on Revleft?

It would mean so much if anyone wants to answer this thoroughly and thoughtfully, I really need every quote I can possibly get for my paper. Thanks

The conception of Communism in the US is simply that there is an authoritarian government controlling all aspects of life. In reality communism has a long and complicated history, with many disagreements over the means to its end. For example, M-Ls and Leninists want a state to oversee the transition to Communism, however there are other branches that object to this. Many people don't even know what Communism actually is (the theoretical classless and stateless society beyond socialism).
Education is key. I view that the public is not educated and conscious of alternative systems to capitalism, either because the state/private schools don't want to talk about it, or that there is a rampant reactionary movement in the US to sway away any people curious on it.

Arguments and debates over ideas can last for weeks rather than minutes at a stall or a meeting.
    2. What would you say are the main common goals of members of RevLeft?
To promote their sect and score points.
    3. Do you believe members of RevLeft are accepting of new members, and if so, why do you think that is?
If you're not here to learn, then you're here because your mind is made up, your sect has spoken and your job is to parrot the line and annoy other users.
    4. Is there any specific lexis or modes of communication that members of RevLeft must know/learn in order to partake in the discourse?
It would be nice for more users to avoid logical fallacies (e.g. guilt by association, strawman etc.). Ad hominem insults would be good to see the back of too.

I'd say the public perception of communism in the US is poor but slowly improving. As LionofTepelene states it is perceived as authoritarian, which isn't just a problem for attracting new supporters, it also leads to new communists committing themselves to autocratic sects and tolerating being controlled. This means when they come to revleft they have pre-conceived ideas and try to defend authoritarianism as communism maybe because their social group is the sect. If workers and 'communists' in the US were as familiar with the history of Marxism in the US for the decades prior to the Bolshevik distortion as they were with the decades after - then this would make the achievement of socialism much more straightforward.
