The situation in Lebanon is pretty much the same. After the 1975-1990 Civil War the country became a kleptocratic plutocracy and divided power to 4 major sects. The politicians have divided the people into religious sects, villages , and cities. The minimum wage was 500$/month but now they decreased it to 420$, we are suffering from severe inflation were the rent is at least 250$, food & drink costs at least 350$ , electric blackouts have worsened since 2007 we get at least 3hour power cuts and in the summer we barely see electricity yet electric bills are overpriced. In 2013 Parliamentarians representing highly corrupt political sectarian politicians have extended their mandate twice. In 2014 teacher had a massive strike due to not providing enough salaries , the teachers refused to correct the official exams. By summer 2015 the main landfill was closed because of it reaching 5x it's capacity when both 8(pro-iran and hezbollah) and 14 (Future Movement/Pro-saudi) March alliances hurled accusations on each other, the people had to pay with their health and well being, including severe power outages. A campaign was formed called #YouStink or #طلعت_ريحتكم staged mass demonstrations with the peak number reaching more than 250 thousand Lebanese citizens and threatened to overthrow the parliment and the government if they don't solve the garbage crisis and others. Unfortunately, the popular movement ceased to exist, with activists showing weakness by focusing on the garbage crisis instead of the regime itself, and not defending themselves from pro-government sectarian thugs. Whoever remained must evaluate the last years events in order to renivent themselves.
