    Default Norway Calling

    Hi comrades!

It's brewing in Europe and we need to fight the facists. I live up north, and even here in Norway we have too many fearmongering islamophobic right-wing facists who scare the gullible into hatred for people they know nothing about. We need to educate the masses, and we need to fight the facists wherever we meet them. My antifa flag hangs proudly in my window, and will hang there until it's not needed anymore. The only time it's not in my window is when I wave it at demos.
Politically I'm an anarchist, maybe not the most theoretical, but as far as I know I'm close to the anarco-syndicalists.

Hope to learn a lot from you guys, and feel like I'm a part of something larger.

    EDIT
When I registered to this forum I was on my way out, so I didn't really write a lot of facts about myself. I'll add a few more things about me now that I'm back home again.

I am 41 years old, I grew up in a liberal, yet religious home where academic work was seen as the only option. So, I rebelled, and refused to get an education. Sometimes I wish I hadn't done that, but then again, I'm not going back to school now. Having experienced life as a upper middle class, white male, I never knew I was privileged, because nobody ever told me that I was. As is the case with a lot of my peers. However, when you're around 25 years old, and all your friends are in the university and you're working with disabeled kids, you start to get a perspective I don't think you'll learn from any book. I've worked with disabeled kids, youth with drug addictions, runaways, those unwanted by their parents (and those who feel unwanted by their parents, but really isn't), I've worked with the elderly, and the sick, both the mentally sick, and the physically sick. I've seen depression, both in others, and in myself, and I've seen how unfair the world is if you're not in the "in crowd". Yeah, sort of comparing society with high school there, but come on - it's what it is, right?

In the mid-90's Norway saw a rise in nazis, facists and people afraid of immigrants. Through hard work, and quite a few fights, we managed to quell the nazis, and we felt that Norway was a great place, where everybody was welcome. Then I met and befriended imigrants, and the children of imigrants, and I learned that it's not like that. Not at all. We had driven the nazis off the streets, but the racists were still everywhere, and they were waiting for their oportunity.
July 22th 2011, our very own home grown white chrisitan terrorist struck. Anders Behring Breivik set off a bomb in our capital, and went on killing youth at our Labour party's summer camp. You'd think that would stop the racists, but somehow it didn't. Then came the latest chrisis in the middle east, with the war in Syria, and all of a sudden it seemed that all our work had been for nothing. It is painful to see that ordinary people have turned really racist, islamophobic, and afraid. I've been active trying to discuss with people, because I thought that facts would make people change their opinion, but after having recieved death threats for saying that I'm not afraid of all muslims, or for saying that I think immigrants should be able to sing our national anthem, or wave a Norwegian flag, or exist, I've decided that I need to educate myself to be able to continue the "discussion". (The best thing I've had thrown at me was the following sentence: "Why do you lefties always use facts to argue? Why can't you follow your heart like normal people!")

So that's that. As I said above, I have an antifa-flag hanging in my bedroom window, and I refuse to back down. I am not going to let hate and fear win!

That's the antifa part of me, but what about politics? As stated above, I feel very much like anarchism is my thing, but there's so much to pick and choose from. That's why I'll add a bit about what I think about stuff, and maybe get some help figuring out where to go from here. What to read, who to read, where to go. You know, find out who I am politically. I am sorry if it's just a mess written down, but it's getting late and I've got a lot of things to fix before I go to bed.

I don't believe there should be a national state. Borders are lines drawn on maps, and should be removed. We're all human, and we should all work together for a better world. I think that there can be no freedom until we're all free, no equality until we're all equal, that nobody has the right to own another human being (both literally and figuratively). I am for a world where things like your sex, the colour of your skin, who you fall in love with, where you were born, and all that doesn't matter. A place without megacorporations profiting while people starve to death, or can't get medicine. I am for a world where everybody are healthy, well fed, clothed (as much as they need according to the temperature, and their local customs), happy. Where there are no more war, no more need to revolt, no more fear. Where people grow old and happy.

Quite the utopia, but it's what I want for the world. Peace, and fairness. Happiness and joy.

Is it possible? Not as long as we cling to capitalism, patriachy, and whatever else we cling to now. I read somewhere that somewhere around 65 people own half the planet. How is that even possible? What did they do to "deserve" that?

So I'm here to learn. To be a sponge, and hopefully, after a while, help out by giving others what I've been given.

    Welcome comrade!

They bore it into our skulls, they pump it through our veins from the day we're born, over and over and over the capitalists continue to enslave us by feeding us false hope, telling us, "If you work as hard as you can as much as you can and if you fight for your success you can be like me." Now it is our turn, it is our time and it is our right to rise up in one collective voice against those who dub themselves our masters, against those who put us in shackles and leave us destitute for their gain, it is now that we must rise up and shout: We have worked tirelessly towards our freedom, we have worked, unwavering, for the liberation of humanity from beneath your feet. And now, we are prepared to unite and fight for our success, and our fight is raging on your marble doorsteps that we have been bearing the weight of for far too long.

Hello comrade! I'm from Norway too!

I have also noticed the rise in the fascist mentality over here as well. I am a student, and the place where I study is located next to a refugee camp, so we will often see some of the refugees walking past the building while we're taking our lessons, and you'd be amazed by some of the racist shit some of my idiot classmates say about them. And although there is no proof of this, there have been rumours of attacks on the refugee camp. Knowing how bad it's getting in Norway, I wouldn't be surprised if the rumours were true.

I'm even starting to feel scared by this rising anti-immigrant, anti-refugee mentality. I am not a refugee myself, as I was born in Norway, but I am brown-skinned, and that was enough for some people to make very passive-aggressive comments against me, sometimes even straight up aggressive comments against me for the way that I look. It's made me feel somewhat unsafe living in this country. Some people have said that I should "go back home", but I've lived here my whole life. This is the only home I've had. Things are definitely getting worse.

Hell, I wouldn't be surprised if FrP wins a majority of the seats next election.

I've heard it too, at work, from friends (or people I thought were friends), from strangers, and unfortunately from members of my in-law family. All of a sudden, sometimes during 2015, people stopped reacting to racists. People even started defending the racists, telling me to "chill out" because "it's not that big a deal"! Now I share a lot of anti-racist, anti-facist, anti-capitalist, and more stuff on my wide open facebook account, and people tell me things like "do you really believe in that shit, or do you just fish for likes from the lefties?"

Hell yes, I believe in that "shit". I do solemly believe that all are created equal, that racists should shut up, and that facists should be fought any chance you get. Even on facebook. Even if it makes me a target. Even if I recieve death threats. (And I have recieved six of them the last 12 months.) I'm still here, and I am not going to stop!

When it comes to FrP, I have said it a long time - that bunch are facist lights, facists, and nazis. Mixed with islamophobes, racists and people hating anything that is different from their weird "Norwegian culture". I fear you're right when it comes to the elections, but I hope you're wrong. We need that political party like we need a hole in the head.

I must say, I've been trying to understand this message since I first saw it, but I am unable to grasp the concept. Would you care to explain please?
