The Paris Communes

So the French revolution. Pretty much most of our jump off points. Or at least the theory anyways (Marxists I mean). But there are two Paris communes as some of us may know (I didnt until recently actually. Stupid history teachers want to focus on 'murica). So what are we able to take from each, if anything? It seems like most of what we gather comes from the first, of the 1700's. But what of the 1871 commune? Marx once said something along the lines of "if I am anything, it is not a Marxist," apparently referencing this.

Fuck, my crappy US education didn't teach about either Paris Commune. In high school I read a small paragraph about the Paris Commune in 1871, and was like,"What? This is important! Why isn't this taught more?"

Marx did write about the Paris Commune of 1871. Marx and Engels called it the first dictatorship of the proletariat: https://www.marxists.org/archive/mar...ance/index.htm Seems like one of the great urban insurrections, of which it inspired many.
