    Default Hey there

I guess I can't just be a lurker on this forum, else my account might become deleted...

I have some reservations toward the idea of introducing myself in a place where anyone can read what I wrote (local fascists, governmental agencies), so I think I'll skip that part and just refer you to my blog (bifutake.wordpress.com), where I sometimes write or share various content about certain, mostly historical topics which tickle my interest.

As it says on my blog:

    anti-fascist, anti-capitalist, anti-revisionist, pro-socialist
During my years in college, I've learned that source-criticism lies at the very foundation of historiography. Since then, I've come to realize that many historians and amateurs, especially those writing about the Soviet period, do not adhere to this basic principle of our profession. They use hearsay, gossip, memoirs and opinions of people they chose to interview, without checking them for bias, inaccuracy or outright fallacy. Basically, any claim against socialism, no matter how shaky, is taken at face-value. They often resort to statistical manipulation in order to "prove" genocides that never happened. If the aforementioned methods were used in any other field, these so-called historians would've been widely ostracized by their peers due to their highly tendentious approach. But this self-correcting mechanism appears to be failing when we're dealing with topics related to socialism, the most important historical subject which frames the future of the working class.

The general public has been purposely fed lies and misleading half-truths about socialism, about communism, about the Soviet Union and about Stalin. Our only chance of regaining control over our history (and our future) is to reevaluate everything we think we know about these matters, by revisiting the primary sources (although most of the relevant archives are still sealed) and by placing them into their proper context. Without adequate sources, the best any of us can do is to speculate. The worst has already been done by bourgeois historians and those serving their purposes, many unwillingly.

One thing confuses me... When I look to the right of my post, at the quick profile stats, it still says that I've written 0 posts and the front page still contains the following warning:

Posts in the non political grouping (including introductions) are not included in the post count for some reason.

I'm keen on Deutscher's and Zizek's analsyses of Stalinism. There have been some interesting threads here on Late Stalinism (as in the USSR in the 60s and 70s)

I'm curious about your archaelogical work. I did one dig along time ago, looking into native peoples relics here in Ontario. What are your interests or practices that way?

My interest in archaeology has severely decayed, mostly because in college, the teachers laid too much emphasis on pottery, jewelry and ornaments. I got bored of it very quickly. For example, there was this one class about The Great Migration Period in the early middle ages. Sounds interesting, right? Well, the guy teaching it only devoted one out of 14 or 15 periods to weaponry and all the others to fibulae (brooches). It was so disappointing. I had to force myself to finish my degree.
