CONSIDERING that there is no Portuguese language sub-forum
KNOWING that "Spain" meant the whole Iberian peninsule a whole lot of time ago.
USING as base the fact that Portuguese can therefore be understood as an Spanish language.
SURPRISED that the Moderators don't give a shit to portuguese-speakers
I hereby declare open and started the Portuguese Language General sub-Thread.
Boa tarde a todos!

Well, until then we have a Portuguese sub-thread.
I don't like boureaucracy.
Yeah, but getting all pissy and accusatory is just going to annoy the BA, isn't it? Accusing them of not giving a shit about Portuguese speakers when they're the ones discussing providing you with a forum isn't a very wise thing to do.
Well, I just want to know some portuguese-speakers here in order to talk to them. If that is too hard, well, whatever. And I'm not accusing, it is a fact, It's almost been 20 days.
I'm just bugged that the second biggest group of people after Anglophones are Brazillians (Look at the survey) and even at the survey the portuguese language was not even present.
And if you wish to do so, ban me. This will do wonders to improve the quality of this forums.
Portuguese is not a "Spanish" language at all it's a language closely related to Castilian Spanish that evolved independently from a similar source. Ancient "Hispania" was what the Romans called the Iberian peninsula, and the name Spain came from that. But that's a different thing than "Spain".
This might look like splitting hairs but there's a common misconception among anglophones, Americans in particular, that Portuguese is some kind of dialect of Spanish that Portugal is somewhat a part of Spain - culturally, if not politically - and Latin America is a big homogeneous culture of "Hispanics".
Neither of which is true of course. And this notion is reflected on the fact mentioned by Guardia Rossa about Portuguese not even being present on the survey.
I'm perfectly happy discussing in English, and I don't really care about any notion of cultural or national identity at all, but knowing that there's a growing number of Lusophone users, I too support the creation of a Portuguese language forum because it would be politically useful and help more in-depth discussion about local themes using our first-language and terms we're more familiar with.
Stop ruining my justification for creating this thread!
Mas fala ae, você é Brasileiro, Portuga, Angolano, etc?
Ah.
