    Default Britain First.

What is up with them? Most of their support seems to come from the US. I had to un-friend two people that I got on really well with in the psych-ward. One became a Christian-fundie and the other one has become more obsessed with ulter-loyalism and "muh Queen!!11!!". I put up with it until she liked a page called "white people only" then I just said "fuck it".

Do you guys 'n' gals have/had any Biffer friends?

I once new a black guy who liked liked their page and shared a lot of their shit. I'm pretty sure he was trying to subtly express self-loathing.

I don't unfriend people - they unfriend me instead

Usually I try to corrupt them, in the same way capitalists have corrupted democracy and Christianity.

I don't even think Britain First are taken particularly seriously amongst the far-right. Once you strip away the internet novelty - and the liberals that love making memes about them - they aren't really an entity of any note. It would make sense that they'd have support from people in the US, considering the internet is the only real way that somewhere there would be able to interact with the British far-right.

I was FB friend with some person from the states. They posted something from BF that was racist to the core and was a complete misquote attributed to the Ayatollah...in order to prove that all Muslims are pedophiles. We argued. I said BF was semi-fascist. Some Brit friend of hers defended BF and the BNP. I called him a fascist. Then she said she was a fascist too. I don't really think that she knew what it means.

She lost about a dozen friends that day.

Funny thing...up until that time she posted mostly left-wing liberal things.

Britain First were supposed to have been having going around intimidating muslims for a period, though I haven't heard anything about it for a while. The last thing I saw them doing was having a pop at the people who went and aggressively breast-fed in the presence of Farage, and they just seemed like.... people who are most probably incurably stupid.

Mostly they seem to be a vehicle for spreading far right ideology and well, selling people merchandise. Half of the shit they spread is normally to do with animal cruelty or some comparative travesty that has no underlying racial or fascistic tones, and they open the nets to get subscribers, who will then probably start regurgitating some of the bilge they are subjected to.

They're a bunch of fascist tools basically. They need to be militantly and violently combated.

On their website they want "Hate preachers of our street."

They're a BNP offshoot formed by Jim Dowson, who is a strong Christian fundimentalist. That's why their bile often goes beyond just racism, often venturing into anti-abortion, strong Christianity-related posts, and their infamous mosque 'invasions'. They're clever in that they gain a lot of Facebook 'likes' by masking their true views and circulating fabricated pictures, pictures opposing animal abuse, child abuse etc., pictures in support of the soldier etc. They tug at heartstrings to fool people into unknowlingly 'liking' right-wing extremists. Once their posts appear on people's Facebook feeds, it becomes simpler to slowly 'cultivate' people into becoming more and more right wing and reactionary.

I don't want to overstate the point because they might just disappear like the EDL, but their methods have the potential to be far more damaging as people gradually subscribe to their bile. They're covert fascists rather than overt like the BNP.

I've had UKIP supporters 'unfriend' me. I've not had anybody who shared BF bile unfriend me yet because they proabably don't even realise how they're getting sucked into all that reactionary bullshit.

I was just about to say that small organization's with a heavy mainstream Internet presence are far more effective and potentially dangerous than small street groups. But Left Voice brilliantly posted that already.

And it (BF) posts do seem to spread like wild fire, especially among Americans and I noticed that starting when there was that Royal baby and the Royal visit....which seems to have spread some infatuation with England.

Yeah, here in Canada people repost BF stuff on Facebook as well. They don't even seem to realize when they're posting something about England, not Canada.

Not BF-related, but recently a bunch of people on my Facebook reposted a satirical story about a Muslim bakery forcing non-Muslim employees to wear hajibs. The point was to make fun of American "religious freedom" laws that allow Christians to discriminate against gays. Not only did everybody miss the joke, they also thought it was true. When I pointed out that no, this isn't actually happening, people were like "fuck you, it probably is true." End of discussion. *sigh*.

My Mum, who has muscled her way onto my fb site, posted a BF article calling for all Schools in the UK to be compelled to hold a nativity play at Christmas. When I objected, she claimed that she was too old to know what Britain First was and only posted it because she liked the nativity scene which illustrated the article.

I still reported her to Facebook, though.

That's right, I grassed-up my mum to Facebook.

BF is pretty pointless. They started out intending to be a political group (and they made that explicitly clear) but then realised UKIP were going to dominate that area so they starting supporting UKIP. They rely on their internet store of "patriotic" clothing and merchandise for income along with membership fees. They really are just conning their followers.
They seem to lack real direction, the only posts of theirs with any unity among their followers are the anti-islam/anti-left wing ones. All of their Jesus/Christianity posts are mocked by half of their followers there will never be a fundamentalist Christian group in the UK like America has. I get friends sharing their posts, mainly shit about introducing the death sentence for paedophiles and stuff like that.

They actually have a couple of trojan horse groups that they use to flog merchandise. For example, both the 'Knights Templar International' and 'Lionheart GB' just Britain First under a different guise who they use to sell merchandise by plugging it on the main Britain First site. They go into overdrive with this everytime there's some kind of military rememberence day such as Remembrance Sunday.

They have quite an ingenious scam going on. They get their followers to donate towards the manufacture of merchandise. Then they sell that merchandise back to those same followers, who have effectively paid twice. Much of this is with the promise that a certain percentage goes towards the British Royal Legion or Help for Heroes, both of whom refuse to take money from them and deny that any proceeds are offered to them in the first place.

They seem to have the financial side of things down to a T.

They are utterly cringeworthy. They attack Islamist hate preachers for disturbing the peoples of this country then go and disturb the people of this country with their bollocks.

Someone summed it up best, I can't remember where I read it now "Britain First, Logic Last"

I know a few people that have liked their page and shared some of their stuff. Largely apolitical people who take out their frustrations with the state on this imagined threat of the "nasty foreigners"

This makes a lot of sense now. I had noticed an odd Christian undertone to their shite, which is not what you usually see in this country.

I hate the attitude of these people that make a big deal about halal slaughtering of animals or perhaps the abuse towards animals then want to deport large amounts of human beings. I had noticed a few parody BF pages on FB now and I think this is the way to go. People will see through their shit. Perhaps I'm just being optimistic but it's usually the case. See: Total collapse of the BNP.

A friend of mine in the Marine Corps shared one of their memes on anti-immigration and "wasteful foreign aid." Didn't have the heart to argue with him, mainly cuz we'd gotten into arguments before and he was always stubborn as an ass. When gay marriage became legal he was butthurt about it and lost two friends because they were gay.

This always gets me. They moan if they come here for a better life and they moan if we wish to give them anything to help improve their lives.

Surely, from a right wing perspective, it would be ideal to try and improve the lives of people in other nations if they don't want them to move to their nations?

I will never understand reactionary bollocks.
