Hameshutefet is not one party. It is the joint list of four parties representing the arab minority. It is divided as follows:
Hadash (communists & radical left): 5
Ra'am (islamic movement): 3
Balad (arab nationalists): 3
Ta'al (arab liberals): 2
I didn't like this elections, and I don't like the results.
Although Hadash has one more Knesset member, the general result is awful.
During election day prime minister Netanyahu told his supporters to go vote because the arab citizens are "flocking to the polling stations". And it fucking worked.
Fuck him on so many levels.
And fuck my life.
Until the election system is changed, the election results don't really matter. Even if "your side" wins, a few months down the line, you'll probably just find out they weren't really on your side after all. This isn't really about Israel - there are many countries that fit the same general model. Any country that has elections, yet for some "mysterious" reasons still has wide inequalities in economic and political power, is a democracy in name only.
