Golden Dawn MP's coming to Australia
As the link posted below states, Golden Dawn MP's are set to visit Australia. Australia, in particular Melbourne has a huge Greek population. There are calls by some on the left for the government to ban entry to the country by these fascists, but I don't think this would help anything. Indeed this visit is going to flush out a lot of local supporters of GD, both Greek and non-Green White Nationalists and would be the perfect opportunity for anti-fascist forces to bite back and warn these bastards back into submission.

Well i don't know if advocating violence is all that kosher on here but as far as i am concerned the best warning you can give a fascist is a bat over the head. Most people i know in Australia are pretty left wing so i can't see them getting much support other then maybe from stupid, pissed off gutless wonders who blame immigrants and minorities for their woes instead of placing the blame on the bourgeois squarely where it belongs.
You are right in that there are a large number of people in Australia who are pretty socially liberal. However, one only needs to look at the number of disgusting anti refugee policies enacted by both major parties in government to realize that there really is a concerted push by the ruling class to pit the white working class against other working class people, as such, every time fascism rears its ugly head it needs to be met forcefully, as there is a latent audience out there for such disgusting discrimination.

Aside from it possibly being used as bait for antifash action. I would totally and whole heartlessly support banning him from entering the country and would be irritated if this wasn't already a given. This would also be useful in delegitimizing, humiliating and further marginalizing the MP and this org.

We should never ask for or openly support bourgeois state repression of the fash, if they do it to them they will certainly do it to us.
That is not to say we should jump to their defence, help them, but indifference or even a critical rejection is the correct line for revolutionary leftists when the bourgeois represses the freedom of speech and assembly of the fash. It's our job to beat them in streets and in the minds, if the state moves to prevent unrest or protect the fash from bodily harm that's their choice but not something we should call for. Even if the fash want to march through immigrant areas and provoke pogroms we should organize in self defence and through that way maybe provoke state interference, but we should never ask for it, because we can't count on it and because it weakens ourselves when the state inadvertently will turn on us.

Whether it's Greece of Australia, I'd assume if you look at the funding of these groups, you'll find large capitalist donors. Whether they actually believe in the ideology or not, it is useful for them for majorities to blame minorities, as long as the minority isn't the ruling class itself. It is even useful for them to promote fighting between racists and anti-racists, since that also plays into their divide and conquer strategies.
If I were going to try to "get through" to fascists, it would be to convince them that they are being manipulated for someone else's benefit. Fascists, after all, want to feel superior - since their entire ideology is about trying to feel superior to one group or another - and if you want to feel superior, you don't want to feel like you are being manipulated for someone else's goals.

General attitudes towards the LGBTI community are pretty good, though far from wonderful. Of course, opinions vary by region. Rural Queenslanders, for example, are pretty rotten on the question.
Sexist attitudes seem to be on the rise in Australia as well. The MRAs have more power and influence in Australia than in most European countries.
Islamophobia, while not totally rampant here, is definitely on the rise since the hysterical scare campaign waged by the mainstream media over ISIS, Khorasan, Al Nusra, etc., and not to mention the sanctimonious bullshit spin our Prime Sinister puts forth about the threat of "death cults" on an almost daily basis.
But the worst attitude infecting Australians at the moment is "apoliticism". Nobody in Australia gives a flying fuck about anything our government does. Tony Abbott could announce tomorrow morning that he was going to weaponize the entire Australian border with predator drones and instruct the drone pilots to blow up any asylum seeker boats trying to make it to shore. The general public would give a fuck for...maybe a week or so? The leader of the ALP would endorse the policy as part of "bipartisan compromise", then everyone would stop giving a fuck again, going right back to worrying about the Kardashians and the latest AFL steroid scandal.

I'm sorry guys don't want to seem melodramatic but conservatism is a plight here in Victoria. Particularly push through the media as usual. Andrew Bolt one perfect example. Lapse judgement and the fear fallacy being pushed on the community is to blame. I don't think Golden Dawn will effect ethnic Greeks in Victoria. Possibly the higher states may present an action but the ideology I think the ideology is present in all Western society; the response of course dependent on the situation, but while the masses are still being brainwashed in hatred of one particular Australian minority in Australia we wont have to much of a situation with political and racial hatred of another kind in Australia in the near future, defiantly plausible in the future.
Take up arms and point them at the GD at their arrival. Austrialia is not like Greece, where there are Nazi supporters everywhere. Show them this, but don't shoot, then you will likely be shot at. Just scare them.
please do not incite people to do stuff that might be legal in your country but isnt elsewhere (though while weapon possession and open carry is allowed in big parts of the US, in fact pointing those weapons at people in a threatening manner is not either)

Cosmonaut is a 13 year old tankie. It reminds me of myself. I was a 'left-wing nationalist Tankie-esque' at that age with no understanding of politics. Although it was just for fun then, it's still kinda embarrassing. That you think you can publicly take up arms and point them at large groups of unarmed people tells me you should wait a little longer to be seriously politically active.
