Hi I am a basque nationalist, what is your opinion of the pamplona bull run?? Every year it is full of socialists but many left wing foreigners oppose it I understand?
It is barbaric!

The bigger problem would be Basque nationalism but let's drop that for the moment.
As far as I know, the thing with the bull run is that bulls are unleashed and go on a rampage and don't get killed. People on the other hand who take pleasure in it can get seriously injured.
What am I supposed to dislike about that? I find the idea really attractive but to be honest, I guess I would be too scared to do it even if I had the money to make it all happen.

well to be fair bulls are fought later on in the day after the run.
And killed?
I never got it why the tradition has to be preserved in that exact form. I mean, you can have veteran v. veteran (human v. bull) matches, just imagine fierce opponents from 20 years ago locking horns (pun very much intended) today - if that's how long bulls live. I can already imagine the scene, "alas...we meet again".
I don't see any damn reason not to get rid of the killing part; that way you even pave the way for the creation of new traditions. For instance, a bull fighter has to draw something on the bull (like one letter or a symbol) or I dunno what.
