    Default Sean South of Garryowen

Is anyone familiar with the Irish republican song 'Sean South of Garryowen'? Why do people, especially the far-left, commemorate him? It is a good song, and I'm sure most of us support Irish republicanism, but Sean South was a member of Ailtirí na hAiséirghe a far-right party.
These religious zealot nut-jobs seen communism as "godless" and "damned".
The tune of the song 'Sean South of Garryowen' actually comes from an older republican song "Roddy McCorley", a man worth remembering! A protestant who died for an Irish Republic. Certainly not a far-right bigot.

    Hello,

I registered to post here because what you wrote really annoyed me. Sure Mr. Souths views were quite right wing and reactionary, however he fought, bled and died for Ireland and against imperialism.

I think that merits him some respect.

    Regards,
