I'm optimistic about GM foods. Of course, there should probably be more research done on it to ensure the safety of those eating it, but I'm optimistic that this may eventaully lead to the end of world hunger.

I don't like Genetically Modified foods.

It has the potential to destroy agriculture. The Terminator seed exploits farmers into buying seed, year in and year out, as it destroys itself.

Pest and Disease invulnerability only leaves us with "Super-Bugs," to ravage crops and create famine.

Splicing genes could be risky business as well. Say, splicing a Salmon gene with a Tomato gene, to create a crop more resistant to cold weather, can evoke allergic reactions to those sensative to seafood, for an example.

As well, has anyone ever ate GM Foods? The taste isnt horrifying...because there IS no taste. I once had a carrot, a GM'ed Carrot, and I couldn't taste anything. Same witha GM'ed Strawberry (which, believe it or not, had FUR on it)

Finally, to CREATE food in a lab is not good. The world has already lost ALOT of its bio-diversity, and with GM'ed Foods, it could loose more.

I'd like to think the same but i seriously doubt it will ever be the case in this capitalist world, i mean the developers are hardly just gonna give the starving the seeds are they?

Its already possible to end world hunger. GM foods would just make it obnoxiously easy, yet people would still starve. Maybe someone should smuggle in some of those GM seeds to the North Koreans....

what would be good would be creating crops that could grow without much water and then africa could feed itself much more easily.

i don't know... maybe i'm a bit paranoid, but i don't really like gm foods... i like hood, old natural stuff the best
i mean - you can't really miss with a apple for example which is grown in a field away from any kind of laboratories, and with gm foods so many researches are needed and there are many problems (like their taste as al creed said)... so in the end - who needs it??
why isn't the natural stuff enough for mankind? it had never let us down, at least as much as i can remember...

If "natural" were good enough for mankind, then we should be running about naked, killing woodland critters with spears. The future of mankind is not "natural", it is scientific, and it is with just reasoning that we should pursue what is best for all of mankind, which might not necessarily be what mother earth had in mind, if she did have a mind. I see the earth as nothing more then a cradle for mankind, and in the not so distant future (hopefully) we will outgrow that cradle.

yeah, but it is not the same to ran uround naked with a spear in your hend and it a natural carrot.
i'm saying i think it is best (for now and untill the subject of gm foods isn't properly reshearched) to eat natural food. meybe in the futur it'll be great... but, who knows?
i'm not saying gm foods are pointless, just that i can't really see the point. sorry

What do you think?

For millions of years mother nature work it all out alone. Why shal we interfere once again. Specially in our food.

There is any scientist that can be sure that there will be no side effects. People are going completely crazy. We believe we are Gods or even something superior.
