    Default Gin.

Anyone know of any good drinks to make with gin? I've never drank gin before but a recent conversation I had about it with some other people prompted me to buy a bottle of Tanqueray to try it out. I've been told that it's terrible to drink straight...usually I'll just drink liquor (mostly bourbon or scotch) straight, or on ice...the guy at the liquor store recommended just serving it with some lime juice & ice.

    Anyway, any gin fans here?

Pretty much anything but Seven Up or Sprite with ice is always my fav even if you get shit gin like Bankers Club, Crystal Palace, etc. I usually drink it neat or with ice, well, when I did drink anyways.

Yeah I've been trying to cut back on the ol' alk-eee-haul-ism, personally. But I only really drink to excess in social environments. Usually if I'm drinking by myself I'll cap it off after one or two drinks, it's much healthier for me.

I had the exact opposite mentality and that was the problem, lol, sounds way better.

Bombay Sapphire, slimline tonic, couple of slices of cucumber and a couple of cubes of ice. Simple but beautiful.

It's weird that the brand being parodied on the cover is Absolut, a vodka brand...

If you're talking about this stuff

I wouldn't bother with it. My sister bought a bottle because of snoop dogg and everyone agreed that it was awful.

straight gin is terrible. I mixed it with some lime flavored sparkling water and from what I remember that wasn't entirely unpleasant.

For gin and tonics and gimlets I don't think you need anything more expensive than Seagram's. For martinis I have found Citadel to be the absolute best. I go heavy on the Dolin dry vermouth (four parts gin to one part vermouth; i.e. 2 oz gin to 0.5 oz vermouth per drink). I think that Hendrick's on the rocks with a lemon twist is a nice drink as well.

Tanqueray is a fine gin. I wouldn't waste it with tonic so I'd drink it on the rocks with a twist or in the above stated martini.

You could also make a nice negroni but that is a totally different flavor.

    Cheers.

I mixed the gin in with some seltzer water & ice and squeezed some fresh lime juice in the mix. Tastes pretty good, interesting dry aftertaste. I like it.

    gin owns i love gin.

I think the best thing about it is that you really don't need to spend much for good stuff. Like, Gordon's is $20 and comes in a plastic bottle and it's still pretty good stuff. I like Beefeater a lot too but goddamn I can hardly justify dropping $40 on a bottle because I'm cheap beyond reason.

Gin is also one of the few liquors that I drink straight and kind of like.

The cheaper the gin the more you have to mix it, that's pretty much a given.

Indian tonic water is the classic mixer. Or bitter lemon.

I like Hendricks with a slice of cucumber and ice.

I don't advise advocaat as a mixer personally.

I tend not to like mixing different types of booze. Tends to make me sick. I don't really drink beer anymore.

I was told that it tasted terrible. But I'll probably take a shot of it and decide for myself at some point. I was told that it tasted "like a spruce tree" which didn't sound that bad, so maybe it isn't so terrible.

No-one else knows what spruce tea tastes like.

Cheap gin tastes like you accidently sprayed your tongue with hairspray. Perhaps your informant has only drunk cheap gin.

I always thought that gin was terrible, until someone gave me a glass of relatively nice gin (i.e., not "value" or supermarket own brand) and it was surprisingly delicious. Gin and tonic is nice, but actually it's good on its own.

Unless it's cheap gin, which is barely drinkable.
"Her development, her freedom, her independence must come from and through herself. First, by asserting herself as a personality, and not as a sex commodity. Second, by refusing the right to anyone over her body; by refusing to bear children unless she wants them; by refusing to become a servant to God, the State, society, the husband, the family, etc. ... by freeing herself from the fear of public opinion and public condemnation. Only that, and not the ballot, will set woman free, will make her a force hitherto unknown in the world, a force for real love, for peace, for harmony; a force of divine fire, of life-giving; a creator of free men and women."

Gin is the only spirit whose taste I appreciate, everything else is gross unless infused with things like honey or coconut or lime. I think it taste amazing like 7up. Spruce tea is pretty good too ftr, lolol.
