Hi, I recently joinedRevLeft and I'm looking to network for reasons of discussion and/or protest in the Hamilton and Toronto areas. Im a long-standing Communist, formally a member of the Communist Party of Canada and recently returned from living in Ireland, where I was supportive and engaged in Irish republican activism. I was also active in working with the Ballymurphy Massacre committee in Belfast and continue to be a strong supporter here in Canada.
Feel free to message me in regards to any of the above subjects or simply to say hello!

The CPC has an interesting history. Pretty sure the only party to ever get a communist elected to my provincial government. You still a M-L? Anyways, welcome to the forum.
Yes, it does actually. It's been awhile since I've done much reading up on it, but certainly a history worth being familiar with.
Yes, I'm still very much committed to m/l ideology, but in my secret life I'm an anarcho communist. Lol. Were it but for points of practicality and my own issues with the modern, anarchist movement.
This blog is run by a Marxist-Leninist who does solidarity work with the Irish struggle in your area http://julianichim.wordpress.com/ You can see some information about the work there or possibly get in touch.
Well that's a bit of a coincidence. I contacted him when I first returned. We spoke briefly, but my summer was jammed with resettling activity. I'll certainly do that. Cheers.
welcome I hope you enjoyed Ireland
I did, especially Belfast. Best little city on the planet.
Greetings from a student in Calgary^^![]()
is the CPC still pretty orthodox in their Marxism-Leninism? The CPUSA is not even worth mentioning anymore
“I shall die a proletarian revolutionist, a Marxist, a dialectical materialist... My faith in the communist future of mankind is not less ardent, indeed it is firmer today, than it was in the days of my youth… I shall die with unshaken faith in the communist future. This faith in man and in his future gives me even now such power of resistance as cannot be given by any religion.”
-Leon Trotsky, February 27th 1940
no it's not. which is why the Communist Party of Canada (Marxist–Leninist) was created. the original CPC has a pretty standard progressive platform. at least in my opinion.
Hi, I've just joined this forum as well, and also live in the Hamilton area. If you're looking for comrades with whom to network, don't hesitate to message me. I look forward to our future collaboration.
Julian is (or at least was) a CPC(M-L) member, and has some links to folks involved in Irish Republican stuff. Interesting guy, for sure.

If you see him, tell him "Brad-who-used-to-live-in-Guelph" says "Hi".

Nice try, NSA.
Just kidding, welcome to RevLeft![]()
Welcome! I'm in Toronto & happy to hear about any pro-republican activities.
Well, I'm sad to say after replies from my home city of Hamilton, that I've left the province for work.![]()
Just outside Calgary though!
Re:cpc being m/l. Yes, it is very much and the Chinese affiliated cpc m/l would not be my bag of tea.
Hi machine, I'm not sure what you mean by CPC(M-L) being "Chinese affiliated" I am not aware of any links between the Party and the Chinese Communist Party. CPC(M-L) talked about Mao Tse-Tung thought until they criticized it in the late 1970s and characterised China as revisionist and social imperialist.
Actually . . .
The CPC(ML) broke with China at the time of the Sino-Albanian split. Since the 90s they've taken a non-dogmatic line, and developed pretty uniquely. They're still "Stalinist" I guess, if you want to throw around a meaningless word, but they actually do a significant amount of solid work, and their cadre are, in my experience, significantly more working class than your average lefty student fare.
*Shrug* I never have been, and never will be a member, but, y'know.
