Default A big hello from Canada!

Hey guys, I'd like to introduce myself!

I made this account a few months ago, but I forgot completely about it, mainly due to to work/studies so I'm sorry about that. The forums here look just awesome, so much discussion and learning which is exactly what Marxism is about.

I consider myself a Marxist-Leninist / I enjoy trance, camping and hiking. See you in the discussions!

Where in Canada are you from and what's the left there like?

Hey everyone, thanks for the welcomes!

Where in Canada are you from and what's the left there like?
I live in Trois-Rivières, Quebec and I'm a member of the Communist Party of Canada (Marxist-Leninist) (CPC - ML) - cumbersome name, I know . . . It's a bit of a confusing story, but the 'official' (as per ballot boxes) name is the Marxist-Leninist Party of Canada, because the name was too similar to the Communist Party of Canada's name (which is about as communist as the greens, honestly - similar to the CPUSA).

The left scene, at least the revolutionary left scene, is rather quiet, although on campus people seem to listen when we give speeches and pamphlets concerning the nature of capitalism's inefficiencies. What's amusing is, when you point out some problems, like rising austerity measures, bank bailouts and the subsidising of the rich, people are all ears, but when you mention that you're a communist, people run for the hills. The anti-communist propaganda campaign by the West seems to have been incredibly successful in stirring up almost immediate negative reactions towards the ideas of socialism.

The party's made progress with about ten thousand votes across the county's last time out - we are not social democrats by any means - but the figure is still significant as people are, gradually (at least I hope), becoming more receptive to "radical" ideas. These significant monopoly-capitalism failures that affect all countries of the world are starting to worsen and I think we as communists must pounce on this and start spreading our ideals. We have the internet, telecommunications and social media - I strongly believe that change is on the horizon.
