The files themselves can be viewed on the website
I'd be more surprised if he didn't have a file.
We claim to live and die equal, the way we were born: we want this real equality or death; that’s what we need.
And we’ll have this real equality, at whatever price. Unhappy will be those who stand between it and us! Unhappy will be those who resist a wish so firmly expressed.
The French Revolution was nothing but a precursor of another revolution, one that will be bigger, more solemn, and which will be the last.
-Gracchus Babeuf
If the FBI had one on Zinn then you can be sure an agency had one on Chomsky.
The suits are so predictable.
Yes they are. So yeah, this comes as no surprise. One of the current memes in the air is that the snooping the government is doing is something new and sinister. Of course, it is sinister, but really, this is so not new. When I argue about this with liberal friends, I point out the US has been doing this kind of thing for a VERY long time. The methods change, but the song remains the same. That being said, it makes me wonder how monitoring email will help them catch terrorists. I mean, can't the folks of Al Queda learn to use encryption?
With "dissidents" like Chomsky who needs loyalists ?
They guy is the prime example of ivory tower leftist intellectuals.
You are entering the vicinity of an area adjacent to a location. The kind of place where there might be a monster, or some kind of weird mirror...
Can you expand on that comment please?
"The essence of all slavery consists in taking the product of another's labor by force. It is immaterial whether this force be founded upon ownership of the slave or ownership of the money that he must get to live" -Leo Tolstoy
"Government is the shadow cast by business over society."
John Dewey
RIP Ian Tomlinson (victim of UK police brutality)
You can't expect anybody who is not poor to have the same motivation for overthrowing the system as someone who is poor. Even street thugs with no political ideology have more motivation to change things than someone who is comforted by the fact that they'll always have a warm bed and health insurance to return to for the foreseeable future.

The only slaves who are happy, are the crazy ones.
I'm not surprised.
A harmless professor as a dissident that needs to be watched by the CIA ?
If that's the best the left has to offer what does the state have to fear.

It's no surprise that they eventually scrapped it, the liberal that he became.
[FONT="Courier New"] “We stand for organized terror - this should be frankly admitted. Terror is an absolute necessity during times of revolution. Our aim is to fight against the enemies of the Revolution and of the new order of life. ”

لا شيء يمكن وقف محاكم التفتيش للثورة
Chomsky is an analyst and an educator, which is exactly the role I'd expect somebody in the ivory tower to perform.
"This is my test of character. There you have the despotic instinct of men. They do not like the cat because the cat is free, and will never consent to become a slave. He will do nothing to your order, as the other animals do." — Jean-Jacques Rousseau.
"The intellectual and emotional refusal 'to go along' appears neurotic and impotent." — Herbert Marcuse.
"Our blight is ideologies — they are the long-expected Antichrist!" — Carl Gustav Jung
"I was spied on by the CIA", man, that's got to get you a lot of points in your local leftie scene
"Win, lose or draw...long as you squabble and you get down, that's gangsta."
Chomsky once told me via email that his lawyers told him that the FBI file on him was several phonebooks thick, but that he wasn't interested in reviewing them.
