Default 'Whole life terms for police killers' - Home Secretary

Automatic life term for anyone who kills a functionary of the State...a feeble attempt to get them a bit more on-side?

Criminals who kill police officers should face compulsory whole life sentences, Home Secretary Theresa May is to propose.
Mrs May will unveil the proposals to rank-and-file officers at the Police Federation conference in Bournemouth.
The current minimum sentence for a police murder is 30 years.
The Police Federation said: "We support any move that means a true life sentence will be applied to anyone who murders a police officer."
Twelve police officers have been killed in the line of duty since 2000.
Mrs May will announce that the government is to propose that the minimum term should be increased to life without parole.
The home secretary will tell officers: "To attack and kill a police officer is to attack the fundamental basis of our society.
"We ask police officers to keep us safe by confronting and stopping violent criminals for us. We ask them to take risks so that we don't have to.
"That is why I am clear that life should mean life for anyone convicted of killing a police officer."
The change will be put before the Sentencing Council which produces guidelines for judges in England and Wales.

It is. Whilst I wholeheartedly disagree with killing, it's a shame that people would be "locked up until they die" for killing a machine of the state. Of course they should face punishment and justice, but rehabilitation is more important and key to ending crime.

If the police are the 'fundemental basis of our society' then that's just evidence of our society's corrupt, racist, homophobic nature and even more evidence of the need to destroy it and create something new.

So, once you've killed one copper and earned yourself a life sentence, there's no reason to stop killing now that one has nothing left to lose.

    Did I get that right?

Cop killers should get life in jail? More like a an all expenses paid trip to New York and a dream date with David Cassidy. Amirite?

surely it says more about a society divided into antagonistic classes that occasionally explodes (2011 riots) than anything else; the police exist to uphold this "society", that's why they are the basis of it.
Until now, the left has only managed capital in various ways; the point, however, is to destroy it.

It's completely ridiculous that you get more time for killing a damn cop than a civilian. Cops are in a line of "work" where they know they may be injured or killed.

Their job is to protect the civilians. which would make you thing that the civilians are held in a higher regard, but when the law even protects pigs over people can you really believe they are here to "protect and serve" us?

Nope. In that case, we give them a leave of absence for a few months while some hearings and investigations are held until everyone forgets the case and the copper can be quietly put back on the beat, or shuffled into retirement, whichever works best.
