Hello, I'm pretty new on this forum (even to marxist ideology though) and it seems really interresting. However, I have a question that remains without answer.

I've found out that Russia official 'opposition' - second party - was the communist party with 20% of votes. So my question is - Do you think we could assist to ... the USSR returns ?

P.S Sorry if you already discussed about that or something
Maybe if they went back to the pre-beaurocratic Bolshevik/Communist Party before Lenin became too authoritarian they could gain enough support.

No, National Socialism (Nazism) has a better chance of being revived there. I say this because I also like to observe the Far right. It is my understanding that Russia has one of the most active Far right movement even openly racist racist movements in the world. Attacks on immigrants are very common and that the Communist party there is more nationalist than communist. Russia is also already living under the semi-fascist regime of Putin so to me, Russia is the home of the Far right, sad to say.

In a way yes it could. The old 'USSR' will never be back, but a new 'fuck you USA and Britain telling us how to live our lives' state very much could be...and they definitely wont be the only countries to do this either.
    So lifestylism? Yeah, can't wait.

What has Russia competing with the States and the UK got to do with lifestylism?

rednordman argues USA and Britain tell us how to live our lives, hence the essence of lifestylism.

I think Russia and China, as capitalist global crisis worsens with each crisis, are in a better position for workers to facilitate revolution than the USA simply because of the fact more workers in those nations already see socialism as a viable alternative and have a somewhat better understanding of what communism actually is (albiet a tad warped by Maoism/Stalinism). I think only now are economic/material conditions in Russia/China ripe for actual socialist revolution but I don't live in either region so I see my task, our task (in America), as first and foremost class struggle/helping to form higher levels of class consciousness.

Do I think the Russian/Chinese governments are playing a cold war strategy comparable to playing possum? Play dead then strike at an advantageous place/time? I think that would enter into the realm of pure speculation, maybe even conspiracy theory, but, I wouldn't unequivocally say no, I'd say it's highly improbable. I have read the Chinese conception of global strategy is much more complex than their western counterparts. Many commentators say the Chinese play chess whilst the American state plays checkers.
