I wanted to post this in a "situation in Iberian Peninsula" sub-forum, I already sent a request for this to admins, but they don't seem to be interested in doing me this service. They say they are working on it, but if they really are that means they are as slow as Portugal's justice system.
Today (14-11-2012) there was a general strike organised by the CGTP. The syndicates consider that the demonstration that occured this afternoon was the biggest yet, and that the next ones will be even bigger.
The demonstration started at 14:30, there were many concentrations around the country.
In Lisboa, the capital, the people gathered and begun to march to parlaiment, there were people from the syndicates, members of the bloco de esquerda, etc.
The protestors got to parlaiment at around 15:30, where the secretary-general of the CGTP delivered a speech where he sent solidarity to the workers of other countries.
Just after the CGTP left, the protestors broke down the police barriers, and carried them away so that the police would not set them up again. At 17:00 some people started to throw stones to the police, they ripped the cobblestones from the ground and threw them at police.
By 18:00 the police decides to charge the protestors to disperse the demo. The people ran from the charge, but still resisted them, and continued to resist in the streets around parlaiment. Some people tipped over garbage bins and set fire to them, but this did not stop the police advance.
The police here does not usualy attack the protestors, so the people throwing rocks were not expecting the police to strike back. Hopefuly the people will learn from this and in future demonstrations they will have a defence against police charges.

There's a thread about the European General Strike (greve geral in Portuguese I believe) already, perhaps it would be better to post it there and then people can add footage from Spain, Greece, Malta, Italy and Cyprus as well as any photos and footage from the other 17 countries were there were reportedly solidarity actions.
