What's the Drill in the event of contact with intelligent, non-human beings?
What should we work on first, proving we're friendly or breaking the language barrier?
Should we accept gifts of alien technology and culture?
Should we be diplomatic and try to portray ourselves as peaceful beings or be frank and admit we can't even get along with ourselves?

    Conversely;
Should we introduce ourselves to less advanced alien cultures or diguise our presence?
Should we expose them to our culture? Technology?
SHould we establish a presence on their homeworld?
Should we spy or find out as much about them through honest means?

What do you think should be done in the context of classless society?
Have you any questions for ME?

The human race is probably going to screw itself if we ran into a ran into a race like the Klingons.

P.S. Star trek is like communism if you have seen the film "First Contact" no money/working for the good of humanity etc etc

    hehehe, Imperial Human Empire.

Way less honorable though. At least the Klingons knows that there is no honor in attacking the weak.

Before this topic diverts too much into Star Trek (Nerds :P), I'll add a few points.

Advanced Alien Races (Now on known as 'Visitors) could make for an intersting analysis. If they have a classless society, (and we ourselves have attained it.) it could mean that equality is universal for advanced technological societies.
If their society is unequal (IE based off of slave labour, either of their same species or a 'slave race&#39
then this poses the interesting theory that given enough resources, class society could last forever.
    an unpleasant prospect.

And a Question I ask of you directly: (Without straying into popular culture  )

Should we run across an alien society that still has class society, and has a lower technogical base than us. (Ie a 20th century level of technology) and they have no theory of classless society (or at leats not one that resemble communism or Anarchism)
Should we, by direct or clandestine means, introduce them to such theories?

soory NoXion i used to be such a star trek geek several years ago guess all of it didnt rub off, ever see that episode of SNL with William Shatner? Get A Life!

if we were to find another alien culture that was behind in technology i would say leave them alone let evolution take its course naturally introducing new technology may prove devastating . I dont think that those "flying saucers" people report are "little green men" if we were ever to find a highly evolved alien species it most likely will not be a humanoid, it will probally be some sort of tree or insect.

Actually there is a "Converging Evolution Theory" That suggests that all species will eventually evolve to resemble each other (humanoid). Some evidence for this is that octoposes has eyes like ours (as in camera design) and if you trace back there is no connection between the human race and the octopos. The theory suggests that all species would eventually aquire the same kind of physical feature because those features are the most efficient for this kind of enviroment (earth-like planet).

If you follow this theory it suggests that if you run into an intelligent alien race, they will definately be humanoid. (I guess they are also suggesting that humans has finished evolution, and are continuing to evolve through technology)

There is a link that has this, I will post it soon.

I do agree, humans were most fit to survive this environment; however, once off this type of planet humans will evolve changing into 'aliens'.

Now the question becomes: can a non-Earth like planet support intelligent life?
