They are supposed to remind others of the unspoken "proper order" of capitalist society. It's not about "bad" beliefs, no one should be prevented from arguing that "Twilight" is the best book ever, but a NAZI flag isn't just some lines and colors, it's a specific symbol meant to intimidate specific groups when it's displayed in public places.
