It's pretty simple, the market will kill all the people dumb enough to eat mad cow beef. It was their fault for not taking personal responsibility and testing the meat themselves before eating it.

I heard a similar argument from Ron Paul, or perhaps it was his progeny, Rand, who was saying that there should be, essentially, no regulation on commercial air traffic. Basically; if the planes fall out of the sky, people will stop buying tickets, and market forces will solve the whole damn thing. These people are insane.

Yeah and I bet that Ron Paul would prefer that blacks be the only passengers while the whole "planes falling out of the sky" phase is ongoing.

I'm sure that the market eventually will correct the worst and most obvious safety issues but it will be done in the slowest and most inefficient way imaginable. A bit like putting a glass outside and hoping for rain when you're thirsty instead of just turning on the faucet. Why anyone would want that puzzles me.

This is generally justified under the aegis of the 'Non-Aggression Principle.' Therefore; to impose federal safety regulations on the saintly airliners is oppressive and wrong, even if not doing so dramatically increases the likelihood that many humans will fall victim to fiery death.
