Well yeah, I dunno why the USSR'd 'keep quiet' on the holocaust. I don't see a reason for it either way as the USSR did had a significant Jewish population, so I doubt that there's some nefarious, anti-semitic reason behind it. My total guess would be that the war, in general, was pretty much a giant atrocity to everyone on the Eastern Front, you know? So the extermination of the Jews in particular was just another Nazi atrocity.
