Proving Kony 2012 is a propaganda campaign
For my AP English class I'm writing a research position paper arguing that Kony 2012 is a propaganda campaign. I would love for fellow users to help give me sources to add to my paper.
Things I want to emphasize:
-Chinese influence in Africa/Sudan
-Uganda relations with Libya (under Gaddafi)
-Coltan and the conflict in the Congo
-Feel free to suggest something else I might want to add to the paper
Also, I want to critique the propaganda video itself so if there's anything you want to add to that then that would be helpful as well.

The way only a fraction of the money is going to Uganda and the public masturbation incident may also be points worth hitting on.
One of the issues with the video maybe the lack of time spent informing us about the situation in Uganda and what kony actualy stood for all the while they only trying to make us feel guilty for not advocating imperialist war and makeing sure executives at invisible children get money we belived was going to the Ugandan people.

I know that the Congo Basin is the most mineral rich area of the planet, filled with gold, diamonds, copper, tin, tanzanite, and a few other rare metals that are used in electronics. The value of the minerals there is approximately ~$24 trillion.

Uganda is literally a GOLD MINE, exploitation of resources lacked by the west is always a 'rational' reason for war, and just like UBL was the monster to Afghanistan, Kony is the monster to Uganda. Of course, they'll exhibit the government is unequipped and isn't competent to combat such threat, thus supervisors must assist.

Kony hasnt been seen in six years
I found this blog useful for refuting people when the whole Kony 2012 thing first went viral.

I can't post links, but; Charlie Brooker's piece on the Kony 2012 video can be found on youtube, and cuts a few points I haven't seen made elsewhere. Also, search "resist AFRICOM" on YouTube, and possibly Emira Woods, who I've seen talk about American expansionism in Africa.

I suggest you cite the White Man's Burden, and the fact that Kony is just a bush fighter who is getting over publicized. I've read some articles that claimed that Ugandans were getting very angry with the movement's attempts at making Kony famous.
The Kony 2012 video is also too poor quality for a contemporary Propaganda video, and this is something not expected from the government of an Internationally significant country like the USA.
